I'm also not satisfied with either Rodrygo or Vini Jr., but I honestly don't think Pérez would consider letting go of both. Now that we're actually discussing the departure of both players, I have my opinion on the subject.

I don't care how PSG or France used Mbappé in recent years — I believe he should play on the left, in a role similar to Ronaldo's. That means we don't need another starting forward on the left side. The real issue remains the right side.

Yea. Arda is our best scoring option after Mbappe right now. Jude will add some scoring threat as AM.

Especially Vini. He had his issues but he was an absolute nightmare for the opposition when he was on and he was during those moments the best player in the world. He is a LONG distance from that level now

That’s why Endrick should get a chance. He come first to training at 7:30 am .. and he had the potential

I can imagine the meltdown when we move to a two player attack and Xabi plays Mbappe and Gonzalo lol...

Really could be an interesting option if our Brazilians don't start being decisive.

Well people aren't stupid you know and continue to adjust to stop your game. Everyone realizes by know it's Vinicius athleticism... he literally just beat the crap out of teams with that.

So when he is out wide it's very easy to limit that.

Hence why when he is more central he returns to being a nightmare because he doesn't have a sideline playing defense on him.

Hence why I have said for months now the best thing for him is to move him right of Mbappe in the center and it's perplexing we allow Franco to basically occupy that area and lose ball after ball (he doesn't even get criticism on here for killing our offense btw).

Is this a joke based off how quickly Brazilian stars fall off after certain amount of success?

Nah. If he's slapping someone like that x4 they definitely did something. This is a black man in Spain, lest we forget. All I'm saying is that we can't judge unless we hear the story.

Brazilian attackers*. And the peak is usually not quite as early as 23-24.

I have faith one or both will recover. I believe they have both alluded to going through some off-pitch stuff the past year, hopefully they will move past whatever it was.

I've heard Rüdiger speak on a lot of podcasts here, he's proud of who he is and totally comfortable with it. When he throws an ice pack or a bottle he'll usually just follow it up with a "they should be lucky I didn't throw a chair or a table" type of thing.

We were trying to reduce his penalty and he was kind of joking about his aim with throwing objects at people.

I thought you wanted him there in a 433, I wasn't a fan. If your idea is to have him there in a 442, with freedom to run into space, then YES (my bad then). That's what I want Xabi to do, and that's what has disappointed me most during the start of the season. I don't want to see a 433 with an 18 year old cutting inside 100% of the time (and losing quite a lot of balls in the process). I hope to see Jude for Franco, and Mbappe and Vini up top, ASAP.

It's a 433 but people are too obsessed with formation. It's about how the formation works and the balance.

    - Rodrygo is wide left where he operates best.
    - Mbappe is central with freedom.
    - Vinicius is right of Mbappe; where he doesn't have a sideline to block of his creativity.
    - Trent/Carvajal now occupy the wide right area

When we are attacking/pressing forward it would be more like a 433. The midfield would have Fede right able to cover the right flank and drop deep to adjust it to 424.

When we want to absorb pressure (Lol I thought Xabi was not like Carlo and never did this??), we would flatten out with Vinicius and Mbappe cluttering the middle, leaving the wide left wirh exposure but having a lot of coverage in Fede and the FB. The opposite side Rodrygo would drop and help Carreras which would give Jude the ability to roam while Tchouameni sits in front of the backline.

When I speak formation, I also want to talk how the players will be set up and the roles of their usage.

I’m guessing Vini doesn’t want to play RW. If Rodrygo can demand LW only, I’m sure Vini feels he has even more authority to do the same

Difference in managing a big club is the players have a serious career going and want to maximize that by getting individual stats VS smaller clubs where you're practically irrelevant unless the team is winning so there's automatically more buy in from the team to play to a scheme.

I know formation is not the only element of importance, and that it is also about how the players are set up (when in possession and when not), the roles they have, the instructions they receive, etc. I unfortunately do not have the time right now to respond in-depth, but I fundamentally disagree with using Vini like that. I am convinced that most of his strengths will be heavily impacted. Hope to get back to this later today, as I think it's interesting how our views differ.

And I also think that our midfield would benefit from an additional midfielder, but that's a separate (though related) subject.

Well it's not RW and most people don't want to do something they aren't convinced is for their best interest.

Xabi first needs to believe this and then actually sell it to Vinicius. The next step/level for Vinicius is closer to central then out wide. He is suffering outwide and people think its because he sucks and not simply people have adapted and use numbers and the sideline to box him out.

So sell to Vinicius when he is right of center he has more options and is harder to stop. He will be fouled more because he'll be very frustrating to cover. He'll score more because he can take the ball both directions and not be blocked off only able to go one.

The lionshare of this forum has lol. This will be one of those things that when it finally happens and I gloat people will pretend I wasn't the only one stumping for this.

Vini out wide has been figured out. All teams know how to use numbers to frustrate him and pin him wide. His strong point is not combination play wide like others. His strong point is his chaos and he can't be chaotic when every team ensures he has multiple chaperone guiding him to the side or end line.

Do you know what they call continuing to do the same thing and expecting a different (in this case consistent) result??

Completely different subject. If you remember I was a supporter of bringing in a star caliber midfielder.

What we have is what we have. No point in talking about what we don't when we're seeking solutions for the next match.

Romano reveals Saliba new deal deadline at Arsenal as Real Madrid eye ‘Bellingham of defenders’

“Many of you ask me about that Real Madrid for sure, have William Saliba on their list. Real Madrid, consider William Saliba. I always tell you this, and I maintain this, the Jude Bellingham of the defenders, something special for present and future.

“But obviously, Real Madrid, at the moment, can’t do anything because the ball is in Arsenal court. Arsenal is talking about new contract. Arsenal improved their proposal to William Saliba and so are doing their very best to keep their defender. We have to wait and see what happens.

“For sure, Real Madrid will keep a close eye to the situation, because it’s very clear, or Saliba extend this contact with Arsenal, or Real Madrid will be very attentive to the situation. So this is the story. But Arsenal have their match point. Arsenal are negotiating with Saliba, and Arsenal improve their proposal, so they are on it.”
