I was going to say this, I get he has the experience and is a serious professional, clearly. However I don’t get the signing from a positional perspective yet until I see him play for us.

Can he play as a centre mid in a Mourinho team …

Do we need him to be a back up attacking mid with the players we have already, I’m not so sure. Do I want him as our starting right midfielder, not for me.

Valverde is retaining captaincy and will start, he was very vocal on where he wants to play. Bellingham will start, Tchouameni was just renewed.

So do you drop Guler for Bernardo? That's pretty dumb imo..

The pieces don't fit together in RM..

 

I don’t see how this 4-2-3-1line up works;

Mbappe
Vinny Jude (RW is a toss up - Guler?)
Tchoumeni (Fede/Silva?)
Cuca Rudiger Konate Dumfries

Same problem the Fede Tchoumeni double pivot does not work……Jude is essentially playing the same role as he did last season.

You cant play with current midfield and hope to win something. We dot have playmaker, the guy who always there to receive and distribute the ball, always open and on the move. Thats used to be Modric. Ceballos, however bad we all think he was, he was that type of player, thats why Pitarch was so important , despite having no experience and being so young, in the last part of the season. Closest we have right now is Arda, who i think struggled last year in that position, and its understandable , its not his natural position. Bernardo is more of attacking mid, he can possibly play there, but i am not sure, We can buy all stars in the world, without proper midfield , we are bound to fail again.

The missing pierce is the deep lying playmaker. I was saying that when Kroos had not decided to retire and Modric was still around. "It is much harder to find a new Kroos than a new Modric," I was saying that. I was calling for Zubimendi last summer. This summer, I am coinsidering Bouaddi. This time around, I've got my eye on Bouaddi. I'm not fully sold yet, but here's my thinking—an off-form or imperfect Bouaddi is still better than a squad with no true DLP at all. I've even started to warm to the idea of Rodri. Never thought I'd say that. We just have wait for Guler to evolve into another player. In the WC finals, we all see how he can be a star..... but as number 10. Bellingham? I am very convinced that he has to play in an advanced position. That leaves us with Thiago P.

In the league, for me, the missing piece is effort. If they play like they were trying to win a CL we would probrably roll all over la liga. So I hope Mou has them running and doesn’t play too much favoritism

 

I'd say no since they signed Bernardo. Him and Arda will fight for a starting spot probably. Bernardo played CM all last season, but you can't predict when the huge decline comes at that age.

 

We always lose games against the weaker team in La Liga.

 

Cause we show no effort. It certainly isn’t la ligas quality or tactical acumen. It’s our lack of effort.
