Fran for sure. Mou wants strong FB depth. He signed Coentrao for 30 ME when we had Marcelo as regular starter.

This is a good move, a player you hate when he plays for another team but love him in yours. Defensively good and like your average Spanish player also good with the ball. LB position kinda locked now with Carreras and him.

 

Cucurella turns 28 in July. Thought he was younger. Still should be good enough for next 4 years.

 

I hope it's Fran. i know Carreras isn't exactly Marcelo, but he's lot better. The FBs looks to have been sorted. Now hoping for another CB. I just don't trust almost all our CBs to stay healthy.

I'm not too optimistic about getting another CB tbh. Mourinho wanted a LB/CB hybrid defender (Gvardiol or Calafiori). So I doubt we go from getting 1 player to getting 2..

 

Yea. Carreras did well against Yamal in first Clasico and with Benfica as well. Think Mou might use him against top wingers.

 

Chelsea are open to selling Enzo as well. And there has been reports that his agent has been in contact with RM to facilitate the move. Player is keen to join RM. If we are getting a midfielder, Enzo here we go could come out of nowhere.

 

I think it Asencio finds a club, we’ll sign another CB.

 

I think we’ll certainly sign another CB now. If we signed a hybrid LB/CB then I don’t think Marc will have happened and that would have been the defence sorted for this summer.

 

Good player, and a good signing for madrid. Barça needed a sale in the MF, in order to sign Silva. Likewise, if Cucurella was to come, Balde would have had to go. Perez wisely took advantage of an opening, and landed two solid additions to add experience and leadership to a roster that desperately needed it.


I too thought that he'd return to Barça, after Barça stupidly chose an aging Alba, and then an unfinished Balde over him. Just a botch for Bartomeu and Laporta.


For your manager, I think Mou "coaches teams, not players." And so, he has no interest in "coaching up" Carreras. He wants more of a "finished product" in Cucurella.


For the player, my understanding is that his child has some sort of "special needs," and he's getting to the age where he'd rather have his child getting help in a more native tongue than in English.


Good addition, damnit. For me, if not Barça, he's another player I'd have preferred to go to Atleti or maybe Villarreal.

Clubs put subtle pressure on players e.g. tell him explicitly he will not play and they buy a replacement. Asencio will not leave willingly.

We need another CB. Gvardiol is close to renewing. Schlotterbeck?

Dani Carvajal played well till 33 although he was breaking down prior to this. With Cucu sharing time with Carreras, I don't see an issue.

In fact I bet our hope is in another 2 oe 3 season Carreras takes over

 

We need a bastard on this team and he’s very capable of handling tricky wingers which is what we had in Mendy but he’s a crock until December. Even then I don’t think he’ll see the field.

To unpopular opinion, I would keep Fran and sell Carreras.

I still think we’ll sign another midfielder yet (Camavinga will be sold) and possibly a really high profile player post World Cup. Perez loves his World Cup stars, he might throw that 150ME at someone after all.
