Yea. He's also coming off a season where he mostly played in a deeper role.

I’m very confident Arda will eventually be playing in a deeper role. Not sure if next season, but he has everything to play in that role.

It's been a long time where the talent was this obvious at such a young age.

Tomás Araujo is also on the list that Mourinho has given to Real Madrid. He likes the Benfica center-back. I'm not aware that Real Madrid has made any moves in that direction at the moment.

You have more optimism than me in thinking Mourinho will be here to start a third season.

Arda as part of a double pivot? I’m not seeing that all. Midfield will get torched. Silva there against weaker opposition could work as he is so good at keeping the ball. Arda still not efficient and quick thinking enough to play there. Whatever CM we bring in should pair Tchou in the middle.

    —————Mbappe/Endrick—————
    Vini/?———Jude/Arda——Silva/Brahim/Endrick
    ——-Tchou/Cama——-New CM or DM/Fede——

Also someone mentioned Tchou leaving with Fernandes replacing him? Fernandes isn’t a DM, not even close. Tchou ain’t perfect but he is our best ball-winner and is solid in the air. We shouldn’t be selling him, he is a starter and Cama should be his backup.

Talent and skillset aside, I see Tchou as one of Perez's "Busby Babes", I don't see the club looking to sell him. If Mou wants players that will side and fight for him, Tchou will be one of them.

This is a mistake from us I think and I’m really surprised we’re losing him for so cheap. I’d bring him back and ship off Brahim/Mastantuono (loan).

Yeah seemed like a no brainer to bring him back; Spanish international, canterano, affordable, versatile and most importantly brings something to the table we currently don’t have.

He's still a bit green when it comes to pressure resistance, understandably (age/experience related), but he does look like a talent that could develop into a serious deep lying playmaker.

I am excited about Bernardo Silva's signing. I think that's a player that gives us a lot. Creativity, experience, can cover multiple positions etc. I don't mind his age. It's time we bring more experienced players into the fold.

But... I still think some names will need to go. We can't have that many players contest for starting spots and think there'll be no problems.

Bernardo, Brahim, Valverde, Bellingham, Rodrygo, Arda, Camavinga... I don't see them all being fine with sharing minutes. I think offloading Cama and Rodrygo should be discussed, then we need to see what the plan is with Bellingham as well. I am a fan of Jude, but I don't see how he can consistently excel in this squad. His best position is not CM, that much is clear.

I like Brahim a lot. He's one of the rare likeable players in this squad. Never complains, gives his all when he comes off the bench... True, sometimes he overdoes it after passing 2-3 players, but he's a useful profile to have on the bench. Slightly undervalued for what he brings, at least in my book.

No, the appearance clause in the contract comes in Bernardo's second season. Mourinho staying or not after two seasons doesn't change the +1 when activated.

In fact, I have already voiced my opinion that Jose would only stay for two years. You might have been confused by Jose's contract.

Theres a reason City are not extending Bernardo, yes his game was never about pace but hes also lost a lot of agility and balance and these are crucial for his game. Anyway hes someone you cant not respect due to his character, professionalism and work ethics so hopefully he plays a role. Better than Camavinga at least.

So no Mateus Fernandes......no Nico Paz....if Bernardo is the only midfield signing...this is beyond disappointing.

After Kroos and Modric left it seems like we don't even know that there is midfield positions in football....the club have completely neglected the most important part on the field

Maybe we will go for a Enzo panic buy for 130 million and more.....men seriously..

Bernardo Silva is mostly a winger/CAM. He's not really the profile we need and he's old. Madrid just likes freebies. He's only gonna congest a space that Arda, Franco and Bellingham occupies. Add Paz to that and it makes no sense to go for Silva.

It's a Mourinho signing because he wants his portuguese contingent.

Forget RM just signed him. Bernardo has talked in last few years how his family dislikes Manchester weather and would like to move to Spain. Nir_0 would fear monger about him joining Barca every time he talked about his family not being happy living in Manchester.

He renewed in 2023 because Barca couldn't afford him and RM had no interest with Kroos, Modric at the club and new signing Jude. Now Barca option was open when he decided not to renew with City and Pep was also leaving.

He's lost some pace, yet adapted to deeper role in a team that won two domestic cups and were in PL title race until the end. Also his double pivot partner Rodri missed half the games. He still has the legs for a season or two at top level.

Paz isn't returning this season. You are few days behind on the news. Franco right now? :D Sounds like complaining just for the sake of it. RM should just pay the clubs 10 M like they did with Trent maybe to make freebie moaners happy.

Lewandowski, Pogba (to Juve), Mcmanaman etc were free transfers in the past before current RM management signed Alaba, Rudiger, Mbappe and Trent. More big name players will be angling for a renewal bonus at their own club or signing bonus if a renewal agreement can't be reached with two years remaining in the deal.

Considering what this midfield has served up for two seasons, Bernardo will start imo..
