It wouldn't be Floro if he didn't pursue a world cup star but do you guys think he does that this time around? I have my doubts if its an attacking player, if a defender ends up shining, maybe.

For me, after this Bernardo signing, we need to sign one more defender. A CB and it has to be someone with experience and high quality. 150M for an attacker is crazy. Why not offer 100M+ for Gvardiol and try to test City's resolve if we are just adamant on just getting turned down.

Also waiting with baited breath for the club to start selling some of these players we have and don't want. Ascensio, Ceballos, Fran etc.

CB is biggest gap, we won't do much better next season if we don't address that glaring issue

He’s smaller and slower than Guler but 10 years older and over 30. There’s no world where this guy should be getting in the squad let alone playing ahead of guys like Nico Paz, Jude, Arda, etc.

I agree we lack veteran leadership but that comes with experience and it won’t happen if we stunt the younger players growth and will be right back in the same boat of trying to justify signing a 32 year old all over again and complain about how the young players stagnated and didn’t turn out the way we hoped when it was the club literally tanking the value if it’s own assets.

I really hope we can sign someone really good. Not another project, we have Dean for that, sign someone with experience and pace.

I am quietly hoping that is where we see a significant investment, we should go big.

A part of me really likes the midfielders we have like Jude and Arda and kinda like the Bernardo signing coz it doesn't block anyone too badly. I am in the minority who thinks we have really good players, we lack leadership in the squad and a coach who is gonna put it all together. We are not that far off from being real contenders for titles no matter what the doom and gloom police says. They see shit everywhere they look except in the mirror.

Other Portuguese player offered must be Ruben Dias. Athletic had reported the possibility couple of days back.

Sell: Brahim, Ceballos, Camavinga, Fran Garcia and Asencio
    Loan: Franco
Bring: Paz, Gvardiol, Mateus Fernandes (since he's Mourinho's number option apparently)

If we sign Gvardiol, you can probably sell Fran..... Gvardiol/Carreras/Mendy to cover the left back spot

You can buy as many as you want, the squad isn’t registered until La Liga starts.

Not sure what to make of this Silva thing. He’s good, but old.
Someone brought how old modric was, but Luka was a freak of nature. One of a kind.

Luka was a superstar, one of a kind, all that but we say that because he was our player..

Bernardo is 4 years younger than Modric in 2021/22. Then in 2023/24 he was 38.

I don't know what the other options are, really.

    - We don't want risk it with expensive talents like Kees Smit, Hjulmand, Stiller, who can't displace any of Valverde, Bellingham or Tchouameni and start from matchday 1

    - We don't want 30+ veterans

    - We can't sign the PSG midfield pair and they don't want to leave

    - Enzo is €140m+; Mac Allister around the same and Liverpool ain't selling

    - We're not scouting the next Vitinha

Given all that, I think Bernardo is a very good option.

Our midfield is entirely physical (some without a brain) Bernardo will be the only technical midfielder with a high IQ.

Lampard maintained high level till 2013 when he was 34. Hope Silva ages like that. Kroos and Xabi aged great too but they were deep-lying playmakers who didn't run a lot.

Sounds like typical Barca spin after rejection. Barca offered Bernardo Silva half as much as he earns at City and he was close to accepting that a week ago? :D They paid Gundogan 8-9 ME nett/18 M gross. 5 ME nett is what Carreras type young signings earn at RM/Barca.

Next signing will be a defender probably. Gonzalo will leave with Endrick coming back. Won't be surprised if Mou asks to leave Ceballos out of La Liga registration. Ceballos will have a decision to make then.

Dude it's a lie from butthurt Barca fan account. Romano and several other reputed journos confirmed it's 2+1 deal. RM will also mention contract length during official announcement but such fan accounts are shameless.
