Franco going on loan or not probably will be decided after Mou gets to see him in pre-season. He's not in the World Cup squad so will join the training in mid July.

His defensive workrate could give him an edge with Mourinho. Looks like Paz and Munoz not returning and Rodrygo is out with ACL so that leaves Endrick, Brahim and maybe Franco as rotational options in attack. Jude, Arda and maybe Bernardo for 2 midfield spots.

Paz is the real deal, I think he could have a bigger impact that Franco tbh.

This really feels like Newcastle will buy him for 35M, and then sell him a year later for double?

Would have been a no brainer if Brahim was being sold. Now that he wants to fight for a spot it complicates things.

To be honest this just feels like a move to keep him away from the domestic rivals..

JFD was right about Mou pushing for Bernardo. Mateus and LCB remaining requests.

RM usually keeps a first refusal clause for canteranos if there's no buyback clause like with Mariano.

Do we get to keep anything past this transfer? I'm not so sure.

Bernardo? This is 100% Mourinho signing. Management listening to the coach unlike what they did to Carlo.

Buying club won't mind first refusal. It just means RM has to match the highest bid. Some clubs insist on clause which forbids selling to direct rivals at times.

When RM sold Ozil, there was anti Barca clause apparently where a big chunk of fee will go to RM if Arsenal decide to sell him there.

Doesn't strike me as a Mourinho player.

I can understand the move considering the agent though. Everyone knows how Mendes works.

Mou values veteran experience and Bernardo is a no drama, hard working player with technical quality. This team lost many leaders in last few years.

Twitter anti's making fun of our window so far.

On one hand, we are seemingly going cheap with Bernardo, Konate, Dumfries. On the other hand, we are adding some veteran experience and necessary depth at positions of need. All 3 started for perennial CL teams.

Still expect a splash or two to happen at the end of summer

Bernardo isn’t the worst signing, but whose minutes is he taking?

Arda and Bernardo will fight for a starting spot. May the inform player win. Other player still will get important minutes in rotation.

Arda wasn’t an automatic starter last season. I guess it’s who’s going to sit; out of Jude, Fede, Tchoumeni? I guess he could be used on the RW too?

    Vinny Mbappe Silva
    Jude Tchoumeni Fede

Yea. Jude, Fede and Tcho will start. Then one of Arda or Bernardo. There was regular spot for Arda last season. Pitarch started when Jude was out for Arbeloa and then lost the spot when Jude returned.

I’m just not sure how that solves the problem we had last year? I don’t see Silva having much impact on the RW, I’ve always thought of him as a traditional CM.
