First of all, he is under contract until the summer of 2030, so he can't really force the club to do anything.

    second

For Barcelona to sign Julián Álvarez for the €150 million Atlético are reportedly asking for, they would likely need to sell players worth tens of millions of euros (at least €50–80 million) to generate the cash required for the deal. They would also need Atlético to agree to a favorable payment structure. On top of that, they would probably have to free up around €15–25 million in wages. Without all of that, a deal of this magnitude looks very difficult to complete.

*Of course, these figures are only reasonable estimates based on the information and reports currently available, not official numbers published by Barcelona.

So we should only submit offers for players that their existing clubs won't come to twitter to post childish messages? Got it. On the platform for the next elections for one Mr. Riquelme.

There was absolutely no need to post a silly official club communication on the rejection of the bid.

It could have been communicated as a 'leak' via Pedrerol, Romano or JFD..

Riquelme would have his nuts busted if he did something similar..

Atleti would have still done their Twitter drama anyways.

Riquelme went on shows and promised both Haaland and Klopp without talking to them, and got humiliated by rejections from them. Florentino promised to submit a bid for a player, and it was only right the club itself closed that commitment.

You literally have to explain things step-by-step to raging forum anti-madridistas... and it still does not help. People who live in a fantasy world don't care about facts.

I can criticize Perez's 5-day Mickey Mouse show without being pro-Riquelme.

A statement like this would have been unthinkable under Perez 5 year ago. Such a decline in the state of how the club is run.

But yeah as long as gramps didn't lie, all is good..

Maybe I am missing something but I see nothing wrong with bidding on Alvarez. If they accepted the bid, you end up with a great player and weaken ATM, if they say no, you just drove up the cost for barca. I see nothing wrong with either outcome.

    This is his Galactico promise....

I don't think he makes it into the top 10 players of the year, yet our president things he's worthy of a 150 price tag. I can't believe this. I must be dreaming, actually having a nightmare. I'm glad they rejected it.

The club (as far as I can remember) didn't release an official communication saying they submitted an offer to PSG and that it was rejected. Perez said it in an interview.

They released a statement denying bid to PSG either 2018 or 2019.
That's your opinion, how is that embarrassing for the club? FFS we paid 100M for Bale, was he worth that at the time? Or Jude?

******** yes they were. At least those two came to the club as some of the best in the world. Especially Bale, an established best player in the EPL.

I'd love to hear your argument or the club to argue how Alvarez justifies this amount. This is insanity.

Perez also released a statement in Nov 2023 denying the club approached Mbappe. From a legal standpoint, he had good reason to do so.

But an official communication to justify the horse play that went on over the last 5 days and tell the socios "Atletico rejected the bid, I did my part"?

Come on, man..that's some pathetic sh!t

One of the best strikers in the world at a premium position from a direct rival? I don’t need to justify it, Spain’s two top clubs bid over a 100M for it, and the third club rejected both.

    Right.

There is only one player worth that amount and bayern aren't selling him.

Now we need to focus on things to better the team

I don’t even know what your point is, there’s actual proof we and other clubs have done this before. But go off.

A down year in a team that has no offensive talent around him and plays a preventative football style. Clearly the big clubs know that he'll have massively better results with an uplift of offensive talent and greatly value his work off the ball, which is world class.

I don't agree with the valuation either, but calling it an embarrassment is something else when another club offered triple digits and the current club rejected both.

He's so good City abandoned him so easily. Anyway.

It's an embarrassment because Perez made it one. With his over the top promise.

Lol come on dude. City abandoned him? City would have begged him to stay. He was banging in goals playing behind Haaland. They had probably the only striker out there that is better than him.

The summer transfer window closes on September 1st. For the good of our mental health, we should probably wait a few months before expecting anything major to occur.
