Theatrics. Perez played a game with Atletico, he gets to fulfill his "promise" which was nothing but a campaign lie and Atletico now have an official bid for €150m. Barcelona will have to pay €150m+ for Alvarez, which imo they will..
This was to be expected. A bit of a clown show, but also one with possible immediate negative consequences as well. Every club that deals with us will now refer to this act and ask for an additional 'Alvarez premium', in addition to the current 'Real Madrid premium'. If he wanted to properly play a dumb game, then it would have been better to just submit a formal offer for a proper superstar (Haaland) and let it be rejected. But ending it like this also shows Perez's complete lack of respect towards the club, its members and its fans. But that's always been Perez and it'll remain like this until the end. In the end, and as I said before, we'll have to be realistic. Konate and Dumfries is a good start, and I hope and expect several other decent transfers in midfield and defense. Expecting anything else is just setting yourself up for disappointment.
This just smells like him making sure Barca can’t get him for less than 150m…so probably out of the running lol. Annoying for us though…. now he better at least give us Gvardiol and a top CM like tomorrow
Perez IIRC said €150m will be an opening bid. But when you post an official communication on the rejection it means there will be no follow-up offers. It could also mean it was all a sham and you didn't really want to spend (or have) €150m on a player. And the fool just inflated the entire market with this charade..
With 150 ME nonsense out of the way, remaining signings if Mou gets his wish could be Mateus Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and an LCB (Scholtterbeck probably more realistic than Calafiori). Endrick back and Paz likely staying at Como .
Well, great marketing by Pérez, and he also managed to screw over Barça by driving up Julián Álvarez's price.
Well, yeah temporarily maybe. The player can formally ask to leave (which I expect him to do after the WC) and force his club to accept €120-130m from Barcelona. Gee if Perez wanted to screw Barcelona maybe he shouldn't have helped Laporta in securing his financial guarantee or getting financial levers to save his club from bankruptcy..
I swear if Florentino now turns around and signs someone major, he gets hailed as an evil genius Stop Julian from going to Barca, then strengthen your team in a significant way.. Going to be a very entertaining summer
Riquelme should have won,Flo is finished Just sign Wharton and Mateus and I don't care.....150 million for Alvarez LOL
Why? The club went through the proper channels and communicated. If they choose to act like monkeys, that’s on them.
Ah it was all fun and games when they did it to Barcelona a few weeks ago.. Wtf would you post an official communication on a rejected bid from your city rival? That was pathetic.
Well let’s see, Barca went around the club and tried to destabilize the player for months. If you can’t see the difference that’s on you.
I feel and hope that this was the intention - to grab some votes and to stop Barca signing him for less than 150M. No way Atleti can sell Julian for less than 150M to Barcelona. If it is not for the show and it is a real opening bid.
Everyone throws embarrassment around but wants to know every update immediately and are sitting refreshing twitter.
Atleti went haywire after Barcelona submitted their €120m offer. Perez gave them the perfect excuse to mock him and the club.
