Looking back at the links between Julian and Barca a couple weeks ago, the numbers being reported were that Atletico wanted 120-130.

So it would make no sense for Florentino to publicly say we will bid 150 as a first bid if this was his target. His statement would have destroyed any leverage of ours to negotiate the price.

Must mean that Julian wasn't who he was talking about.

To be honest a public statement like that destroys the leverage for any target. Why would you even inform publically the other side what your first bid will be, whoever the player is youre interested in...

Elections, to excite the fanbase and distract from two trophyless seasons obviously

People are having a mental breakdown because we signed a CB who is likely going to be our 4th or 5th choice center-back, and a RB who is going to compete with Trent.
We're only in June, the transfer window is still about three weeks away from opening, and there's a World Cup in the middle of all this.

I'm more worried about what we're going to do with the departures. Apart from Fran, who is willing to leave, and Franco, who is expected to go out on loan, we still don't know whether Ceballos is leaving or staying for another season because he "loves Betis." also there's Camavinga and Asencio. If Rodrygo wasn't injured until next year, this would have been an excellent summer to sell him, especially with so many clubs looking for a left winger.

If the club signs Bernardo, then it would probably be best for both Brahim and Real Madrid to part ways.

I don't see the correlation between the two.

Brahim is a good utility player and is happy to start from the bench.

Brahim wont get any minutes with Endrick and Paz back ,Arda minutes will be affected too so Brahim should be sold

Bernardo mostly plays as an AM or on the right ,good player but again Paz and Arda cover his position..Jude???Fede ???

we need number 8s not 10s or wingers

I don't see the correlation either, but not for the same reason. I don't think Brahim is that good, even as a utility player. I would rather see every minute he gets either go to Paz Guler or Endrick. Add to that that he still has some market value before he turns 27 years old in a couple months, to me he is expendable.

Doesn't seem like RM is interested in bringing Munoz back unlike with Paz and Endrick. Newcastle willing to pay 40 ME and Osasuna keen to cash in on their 50%. Guess he ends up going to NU.

I think we need to provide some context:

Sky isn't saying Bayern would be open to selling Olise for over €200 million.

Sky is saying that Olise *might* have a price tag, and that they would normally at least consider a hypothetical offer of over €200 million.

    JFD:

Mourinho values both players' ability to also play as center-backs. The Portuguese manager wants a defense that can easily shift from two to three center-backs during a match. Furthermore, he considers his two current right-backs (Trent and Dumfries) to be too attack-minded. For this reason, he wants the left-backs to have a much more defensive profile in order to maintain the team's balance. A well-balanced and cohesive Real Madrid across all lines is one of Mourinho's main priorities.

Without a doubt, signing Calafiori is much more feasible, given his more affordable price, than signing Gvardiol. These are the two names Mourinho has approved for the club to try and reinforce the left flank, a position where Fran García would have to be sold, since Carreras was one of the star signings last summer (costing €50 million).

Van De Ven, Lukeba and Colwill are all better choices than Gvardiol (too expensive) and Calafiori (not that good), if we want a CB who can play LB.

Calafiori's injury record obviously makes him more "feasible" but not necessarily available when called upon..I'd steer away from him

I thought Calafiori was very good during Euro 2024. I'm not sure how he's been doing at Arsenal and I know he has some injury concerns. Obviously Gvardiol is the better player but who knows what it will take to get him here. It'll be sad if we write off Carreras already.

If Camavinga plays regulary there,he is the best left back in the team .He should just go and play as a fb ,the midfield is not for him ,too chaotic, bad touch ,no composure .

For all the flak Konate gets, I don't understand how Van de Ven goes unscathed. Dude was absolute shit this year and would still cost a Gvardiol type premium on the market. Makes no sense.

Lukeba will be easier to sign as he plays for a selling club.

He's been good at LB but has the fitness of a wet tissue. That alone should be a major red flag for the club.

Both he and Gvardiol haven't played at CB much since joining Arsenal and City.

They are not really unknown players, but I have seen all of them and I just rate these three higher when price is also considered. Bastoni too over Calafiori obviously. I'd rather take him for 60-70 million which was the mentioned price tag than Gvardiol for 90.

I dont think he would cost as much as Gvardiol. At the same price I'd prefer Gvardiol too. But I don't think Micky was bad by any means this season, Tottenham plays with a high line so you get caught often and that team had numerous issues from top to bottom. Its the kind of fast and physical defender that we are commonly using.

Wait so why did he ask for a backup RB that is attack-minded when we have Trent?

And then he asks for a defensive-minded LB [we have 3 total of 3 LBs already] to balance the flanks? What kind of camel manure story is this?
