And Xabi wasnt in an uphill battle with all the mutiny going on around him? Gimme a break.

Xabi might not have been beating the top teams, but he had a much better chance of winning the league than the cone since his team beat lesser opponents on a more consistent basis.

We've already seen the personal happiness of this squad doesn't automatically equate to better overall performances.

I'm not against experience per se.

I'm just cautious about a big longterm contract on a declining post-ACL player. Sounds pretty much like a galactico 1.0 type signing.

We all know how long Alaba occupied a roster spot, sandbagging the team.

What AA faced is called squad mutiny. If rumours are true that Xabi only had problems with 3 players it's nothing compared to what AA has had to deal with.

I think the team has an attitude problem with most in it for themselves. Even the captain cant help himself. AA had no chance. But it is up to the coach to restore order and both failed at that. But performance wise we played our best football this season under AA. Ultimately it matters little as people have already forgotten about it. If it doesnt lead to trophies it will easily be forgotten about.

So you are admitting Arbeloa is a worse coach and manager than Xabi since his locker room atmosphere got a lot worse?

Arbeloa will be lucky to get first division offers at this point of his career. People can write AA > Xabi here, but that will be laughed at outside RM echo chambers.

    It's a nonsensical comparison anyway.

What is a bit of a shame is that Arbeloa (a respectable figure at the club, and a valuable member of an amazing post-2009 squad) was slowly building a potentially promising career, but got thrown into an impossible situation and, unsurprisingly, didn't know how to deal with it this early in his career. I hope his career doesn't suffer from this too much, as he doesn't deserve what has happened to him.

As for Xabi, I made my position clear when the club sacked him. I really hope he makes a smart decision with his next move, as his unfortunate time at Real Madrid didn't change my opinion of him.

I'll take that - that would a 'B-' summer. Truth is I expect it to be even worse than that.

I am just saying if October is earmarked as the time when Xabi supposedly lost the dressing room and when the result started to get worse. AA had it much worse. Even the captain (who won't be renewed btw which makes what he did even worse) sent a promising player down to the B team just so that he selfishly could play himself to a place in the WC squad. What happened after that? Well he got run ragged against Osasuna and any other team he faced. There were teammates mocking eachother openly, mocking him and players fighting like kids. I think he could've done alot more to discipline players alas it ended up being his undoing. But when it clicked we were marvelous. That never really happened for a run of games under Xabi. You could argue that it looked good in the CWC and probably the first game of the season but after that it was same old same old individual brilliance and not good TEAM performances.

Xabi will be able to ride on his Bundesliga trophy for another chance at a big club. If he fails again he wont be able to hide behind October 10th 2025. AA doesnt have any accolades as a coach so he will have to start from rhe bottom up but I think he will make a really good coach.

Sounds like someone is absolving someone of accountability.

Vini and Fede, who are reportedly the biggest whiners under Xabi were happier with ArbS, what happened? Players werent acting like children under Xabi? Lol

Surely the players knew Alvaro wasn't Xabi right?

You have to be a complete idiot to still think it was a smart move to fire Xabi in the midway through the season.

Anyway reports from Turkish media are that Mourinho's most wanted signing would be Osimhen. Bring on the Special One! :D

So Vini doesn’t want to leave but wants to stay very expensively

    how does that work lol

you either need to be paid a lot to be convinced to stay or you want to stay and accept decent terms

can’t sell him cuz he doesn’t wanna leave
But can’t sign him because he wants more

Osimhen in, pit Vinicius and Mbappe against each other to compete for the second striker position, then get out the popcorn.

It will take Mbappe about 3x games max to convince people he's the better player coming in from the left.

City will offer him to Real Madrid once they get relegated for violating financial fair play.

We won't be accepting anything less than €150 mil. We are happy with him and he is happy with us, sooo good luck Mourinho.

You know there is no chance for that at the age he is at and the character that he is. If Mourinho and Madrid call he will create a chaos that will make his Napoli exit look smooth no matter his feelings for Gala. Best thing you can hope for is break even with the fee you paid.

€150 mil is above his worth, but that's not the point. The point is that he is not for sale unless we get a crazy offer like that.

As for his chaotic exit at Napoli -> that happened as a result of a racist incident within the club. Otherwise he would've stayed there. So unless something similar happens at Gala there won't be any chaos :D
