True. Unless Paz has a fantastic World Cup and Vini ends up leaving due to club not offering the renewal he wants.
IIRC JAS wanted Klopp back in ~2015, he reportedly had discussions with him. Perez told him to fvck off and signed Benitez instead.
I don't see how him Jude and Arda play in Madrid colors. But hey, we were due a hard decision making incidentally for a while.
We have several AM's in the squad already, add Matsatonto to the list. (should go out on loan) I hope the club goes for Stiller, move Fede to the wing as he is devastating from there, put Stiller in the middle of the park with Jude and Tchouameni and lets see what happens. If Dani leaves we are going to need a midfielder
Paz has show a ton since moving to Como. Most importantly he has a nose for goal and impacting a game from either RCM (last year) and AM (moved up more this season). I personally like his desire to shoot often and that he’s no shrinking violet even against the bigger Serie A clubs. While I would understand if we let him stay at Como another year, I would not relinquish control over his situation and do what’s needed to avoid a Odegaard scenario. No way on Earth would I keep Franco in the squad over him, that’s for sure. Hopefully the club figures out the best path to take with Paz, and hopefully he gets some playing time in the WC this summer.
It's impossible to fit Jude/Arda/Paz together... need pick two. No need to make same mistakes all other again
I don't see how the club doesn't bring Paz this summer, unless we want to sell him. His progression has been great and it's now a do it or let it go situation....given all the offers the player is likely to have.
But probably could do a similar compilation for a lot of our players. These videos are across multiple seasons. Maybe also include the clip where he comes in late against Manchester City a few years ago, completely turns the game around and we eventually win yet another European trophy. If you take the low-lights of Mbappe and Vinicius for just season season, and some context to how it contributed to us not winning that game, I am certain they will be relatively worse than anything you can compile for Camavinga.
Rodri was spraying passes like Kroos regen today. Guy is still world class. Have to consider him. Also, how did we not listen to zidane and bring in Cherki. What a baller.
yes...but as DM....it's absolutely criminal to have so many blunders...that directly cost your team goals. An attacker has a lot more latitude to mess up. DM....you CANNOT be an error prone player....especially not at Real Madrid. Might be unfair...but it is what it is.
If Richard Rios isn’t at the top of our list of midfielders for next season, he should be. The fit is perfect. A true box to box player with phenomenal positioning and perfect under pressure.
Box to box isn’t just running from one box to the other. None of the players we have, have they profile.
Playmaker who can control tempo should be top priority. We ignored that for two seasons after Kroos retired. Ceballos finding purple patch around City games last season and having to depend on Pitarch to play like an experienced CM in business end of this season wasn't gonna be sustainable solutions. Rodri looks healthy and has regained form. But that could also mean better chance of him renewing with CIty especially now that they are looking good to win another PL.
It's a shame Camavinga hasn't panned out to be what we thought he could be. There were times when we called him a cheat code for how versatile and solid he was, and there were many instances when he was so energetic in midfield. It really could be that he has mentally checked out, as I don't recall a player lose his form this much.
I think ignoring Rodri would be a massive mistake. Sure his season so far hasn't been great after coming back from the injury, but he looked great yesterday and I feel like we should really push hard for him if he has a good world cup. If not him, I wouldn't hate if we went for Enzo. Both players signalled positively for us recently, so at least that side of the equation should be straightforward.
I'd bet money that Rodri is Florentino's first choice. Now whether a deal is possible is another question. Rodri + a younger CM would be a no brainer imo.
We need to look at our midfielders and see what different profile each player brings. Tchouameni has the defensive awareness of someone who just started playing football, and is likely best suited as an 8 or part of a double pivot. Fede is a wide midfielder. He doesn’t have the passing or vision to play centrally, and certainly not deep. If you play a distributor beside him, he can operate as a midfielder but not ideal.. Arda is by far the most versatile, and I still think he’s probably the best player out of the bunch. He’s an 8 or 10. Very dynamic, operates well in space, lethal in final third especially with his vision. Jude is similar, but more of an 8. He has stagnated because of the success of his first season. Camavinga is probably best as a LB. His skillset says he should be a 6, and I would still invest in that, it’s too bad that he didn’t get to work in a system long enough under Xabi. Rodri would be your 6. Kees Smit fits a similar profile although can play as a creative 8. That would change the profile of your midfield. I prefer Rios over Smit but the links with Smit have been there for a year. You are then bringing back Nico who is similar to Arda and Jude. Seems like one of the three needs to go. Arda is the one I keep no matter what, Jude I would sell if you get money on top of what you paid from England, Nico is who I think the club will sell. You also have a ton of redundancy in Tchouameni, Cama, Fede, and Thiago. One minimum needs to go.
No I'm genuinely curious. You just said he was a true box to box. Then 5 seconds later: a box 2 box isnt just running about from b2b. But isnt that the main playstyle, hence the descriptor box to box midfielder, and everything else becomes secondary? What is Rios then? On a more serious note, there is no room for him and doesnt offer that much of a difference in what the team already has.
