Chelsea may not finish top 4/5 and miss on the CL,Caicedo would be a massive upgrade on Camavinga and a good competiton for Tchouameni
Think people are being way too harsh on Camavinga. Yes, probably isn't where we hoped he will be, still feels like a project and we're awaiting his full potential that may never come. With that said, his moments have not be anywhere near as consequential or frequent as the poor performances of a lot of other players in this team. Even the likes of Mbappe and his squandered chances has had more of a negative impact on our season than the odd mistakes fro Camavinga.
Kovacic is better on the ball though....and a better decision maker. Playing for Pep proves that....can't be Pep a midfielder and be a horrible decision maker.
I think this summer will be ideal momment to talk about Camavinga, what's the plan, how he himself sees and how to evaluate his 5 years in Madrid.
Problem is that he came to take over the midfield after Modric/Kroos/Casemiro. He was supposed to be one we build midfield around. The expectations were very high.
3rd CB might have to start some CL KOs given health history of our CBs. Gila hasn't yet played a game for Spain despite the likes of Nacho out of the picture. I'd be comfortable with him taking Asencio's spot as 4th/5th option depending on Militao's availability.
He's evidently better than Dean in some areas i.e. athleticism. It's not even a contest. I think it's because he plays for mid-table Lazio and because there maybe seems to be a slight bias against Serie A by Spanish NT. I can assure you he has what it takes to contribute.
🚨 Arda Güler (red) against Nico Paz (blue) stats compared for this season.— @DataMB_ pic.twitter.com/SDigcrdsMn— Madrid Universal (@MadridUniversal) March 17, 2026
Some of these stats can be misleading. Paz plays F9 sometimes and isn't surrounded by forwards of the same quality as Guler.
Arda is having a highly impactful season according to those stats. Yet match threads of last 3 months tell a different story where even his well wishers are disappointed how he's been on the periphery of games despite playing in a key position like midfield. Pitarch came from Segunda B and made a noticeable impact to the team balance right away which is also scary because you are depending on an inexperienced player so much against top quality teams like City.
In a YouTube interview for Supergaande, Kees Smit doesn’t hesitate to answer where he sees himself playing when he leaves the AZ, choosing among the best leagues in Europe: “LaLiga. Playing there would be great. I love the sun, I’m tired of playing with so much cold and rain, so I would like to go to play in Spain.” The AZ player acknowledges that he saw LaLiga a lot when he was a child: “I really liked seeing Barça. I grew up watching Iniesta or Messi play, which I have as two referents,” the player said, leaving a nod to the team culé. "The ideal would be a stopover at another team in Netherlands, but I don't think that's going to happen," he explained. "I had offers, but I considered that the best thing was to continue growing here. To be honest, I never saw the figures they offered me. And luckily. Otherwise, I would have started to doubt. In the end, I'm happy with my decision. Last year, especially, it cost me physically. I felt I had to improve a lot, that's why it was best to keep growing here [at AZ]." https://as.com/futbol/internacional/kees-smit-elige-espana-f202603-n/
Pitarch’s impact is similar to Ceballos’ impact in 24/25 (when he was look great and we started playing well until he got injured), we’re basically desperate for an actual central midfielder with a passing skillset, someone with that type of profile. If we get one who’s world class then the midfield and team automatically transforms.
More important than his passing is the balance he provides. He doesn't bomb forward and leave the midfield exposed.
That’s what I mean with a skillset of someone who drops into open positions to recirculate the ball at a highly accurate frequency with strong passing skills. Arbeloa is showing a lot of faith to the young guys so I’m sure Pitarch won’t lose his spot, we need him to keep doing what he’s doing.
Matteo Moretto: "The Rüdiger issue isn't over; the parties are still talking. There are doubts about his knee and his fitness. Real Madrid is in discussions with his representatives. Right now, I'd say he's going to stay." "Real Madrid wants Schlotterbeck , but Dortmund is pushing for him to renew his contract," "Konaté from Liverpool is another option ; Real Madrid is in talks with his representatives." Moretto also noted that Real Madrid is closely monitoring Jacobo Ramón's progress at Como, adding, "Cesc is absolutely enamored with him." The club is also "delighted with his growth and development as a footballer" and is considering bringing him back "this summer or, if not, next ." Regarding the center-back, his first choice is Real Madrid, "if he has to return, he'll do so gladly." https://www.marca.com/radio/2026/03/19/matteo-moretto-actualiza-caso-ruediger-renovacion.html
I haven't heard any rumours recently about any midfielders. Are we really going to bring Nico Paz back and pat ourselves on the back?
