I have a feeling that the club won't go for Rodri

PSG isn't selling and Vitinha recently said leaving PSG would be "foolish" when asked about us. Smit is another CAM.

Perfect for the club, young, unproven CAM to slot into CM.

RM is like Blue Lock but instead of strikers it's CAM's/10's and it doesn't work.

A shame Klopp apparently was a guest at Atleti for what could also be an administrative job, while we're throwing the red carpet for the guy most likely to tell him to f off.

You should see the positive coverage the Atleti reports got in Germany. :ROFLMAO:

I just wonder why somebody would sacrifice so much to coach this team. You can only lose.

And his agent called it nonsense. Can’t get any clearer than that.

Among other incentives, tens of millions of Euros is a pretty good reason.

Smit is valued at €55m+; unproven at the highest level and is not really a regulator/moderator midfielder.

    Vitinha will never happen.

Wharton is English and will likely end up in a top EPL side for €70m+

Rodri is Spanish and a BD'Or winner; boner inducing for Perez. I don't think he's the right choice, not even close, but the management rarely make sound sporting choices anymore.

It's looking like more and more the right choice was Zubimendi.

Aside from the board's obviously retarded decision to bring in a system coach - and then acting shocked when said system coach tries to instill a system; the obvious lack of matching profiles across the team is yet another proof that this board currently doesn't really understand how football squads work, or just doesn't prioritize sporting results.

I know, a ridiculous and delusional claim from an internet nobody. I am sure there is more than meets my ignorant philistine eyes.

But seeing as their plan was to play three left wingers up front, it's hard not to be impressed by their shenanigans.

Imagine next year if Paz and Endrick actually come back. Sure, Rodrygo is gone down with a long injury, but where do you play them. Do you not play Arda, Mastantuono (after paying 65 mil for him), or Bellingham? Cause someone will warm that bench. Does Endrick just come back and never play like earlier this season? Absurd level of conflicting/duplicate roles.

We could've gone for Zubimendi last year... But we didn't even try. But thank god, because we can experiment with our canteranos this season. This summer we may push for Wharton, but that's just another young guy with hype. We need a big name, and I would not be opposed to Rodri. It'd also be funny seeing Vini and him play on the same team. But aside from that he is the perfect fit for a midfield in which no matter who's the coach we will always play the two of Bellingham and Tchouameni when they're healthy.

It's also looking like the player made the right choice as well. Imagine signing to Real Madrid to play under a former Real Sociedad legend, and him getting unceremoniously canned, meanwhile you've left everything you liked to join them.

Hes in good hands with Arteta and Arsenal.

Club is in a tough spot, need a top quality mid who can walk into the starting line up and not another project. Problem is there are almost zero options in the market, that profile of a player is limited and any name you can think of is unrealistic without breaking the bank which the club won’t do. Can make the statement for a CB.

The game is Currently in a restock and replenish phase where having bodies is more. Important to the individual quality outside of key positions. The base level of the average player is very very high.

Not only should we go for Rodri this summer but i think it will be a good move. Someone like him is needed in the locker room and needed in the midfield. Yeah, he's past his best but we don't need him to be elite for 5 years just be good enough for 2 and by then hopefully a longer-term solution presents itself. Some folks might not like him, i don't either but his class is undeniable and his personality is the type we desperately need right now. He would have meshed so well with our previous group btw. He's got similar mentality as some of our legends did.

When we won the last CL i mentioned that i would bring Rodri into this young midfield in 2026 for 2-3 seasons, good short term player who will instantly solve some of our problems but also will help lay the foundation for the next midfield group (whoever that maybe).

In my opinion we need Rodri more than we need the signing of Nico Paz who will be a useless addition and not look like the player he is at Como and folks will blame the coach or Mbappe or whatever. Don't get me wrong, Nico has developed into a wonderful player but he has no role here, no place, he will run around like a lost child because he'll be asked to do stuff other than what makes him good. Anyway, when the squad was being rebuilt i thought Rodri in 2 seasons will be a great addition and i believe that even more now.

Don't think City would want to sell Rodri unless they think he's washed. Otherwise they'd look to renew him for 2-3 years. Meanwhile Rodri wouldn't want to leave City and play with Vinicius unless City refuses to offer him a renewal.

Yeah I see the Rodri thing being difficult too. If I remember correctly the biggest ambassador for bringing Rodri here has been Carvajal, and it doesn't look like he will stay past this summer.

I know that we need a deep lying playmaker but most of our midfielders historically have not been that. Modric started as a winger, Kroos as a CAM, Di Maria, James; all were pushed further back and did an OK job. So I do think it's possible with Nico Paz as well. Zubimendi was the last player on the market who was a 'like for like' midfield slot in.

By the way, Borja Iglesias bullied our defence in the last game. Very Joselu type player that has 12 goals this season. I wonder if we could get rid of Gonzalo and bring in someone like him to be a super-sub. Will never happen but the team would win at least 2-3 more games per season with an upgrade like that and that is often the difference between winning and losing a trophy.

You realize our first-choice starting XI has as many English players as it does Spanish?

Wharton is going to break his way into the starting XI of the English national team at the World Cup and cost over 100 million by July

In addition to what @Saeta Rubia mentioned on the feasibility of the transfer/him leaving City, Rodri is physically frail, he's had a couple "knocks" after his ACL recovery and hasn't played 4-5 good games after recovering fully. He definitely isn't the player he was before the ACL.

I believe the rumor that the biggest obstacle to Rodri's signing is not wanting Vini to see him in the locker room every day.

I don't think any of these signings matter until we fix the core of our no issues. Mbappé arrived, looked lively, made or attempted runs constantly but has since been dragged down by the aura surrounding the club and spends too much time walking around and wanting the ball to feet.

Paz, Rodri whoever can arrive but if we still have the lack of discipline and class throughout the club, it's only a matter of time until they adjust.
