Baffling why they won't bring back Gila.

You’re assuming no departures I guess. If so then yes we’ll probably pick up one CM only.

But I do think there’ll be multiple departures this summer. This team in its current state can’t cut it, and we have pieces clubs would be very interested in.

With Alaba and Rudiger leaving this summer, that's €715,000 off our salary bill. That's a big number. For whatever that's worth, I am sure the club will try to work with that in the market. Unless ofcourse they decide to shoot themselves in the foot and just reallocate a big portion of that over to Vinicius' new contract.

I think only Alaba leaves. Rudiger imo will be renewed if he stays fit irrespective of his performances.

We've seen on multiple occasions under Flo that departures don't mean replacements. Reinforcements can be deferred indefinitely, it's happened in the past and we've won titles. In the board's mind: it's worked in the past, let's do it again.

I hear you...I just think that after a couple of seasons with nothing to show for, Florentino typically acts.

The timeframe you're referring to included some silverware for us... As long as we won something, the stubbornness continued lol

The club will work whatever kind of transfer fee they buy into the total cost, so don't expect us to pay the Huijsen transfer fee with the Alaba wage package stacked on top.

It will be either somebody that costs a lot and earns little (Huijsen, Carreras), or somebody that costs less and earns a lot.

The economics state that, in the short to medium term, it's often cheaper to renew a player, then sell him and buy an upgrade.

Flo and Board know what they're doing financially.

Would be very important signing, but then there's these kinds of statements too:

Vitinha is the sedative that Perez's essayist will use to keep the fans dreaming all summer. In reality, it's an impossible option.

As for Smit, the club isn't (and shouldn't be) paying €60m for a 20 year-old unproven midfielder from the Eredivisie.

And lol Endrick is coming back regardless because his loan ends..

Let's see who will be the coach next summer. Alonso pushed for signing Huijsen and Carreras. Also opted for Franco when Paz return was considered by the club.

Vitinha is not happening, did people forgot what happened with Verrati and Barcelona

    They are not selling

Realistic options are Stiller,Wharton if we spend big

I can see Enzo coming in a swap deal with Vinicius I think Chelsea need a left winger and they probably would be open to such transfer

I'm unsure if our players look bad simply because they are not good enough, or we're going through a phase that can be fixed with some good coaching and management. This is what makes it difficult for me to be excited about or even want an additional midfielder.

Does Vithinha look good because he's part of a well drilled PSG team and coming here, as we are now, he'll just look mediocre as he's dragged down by the club's culture? Or are the likes of Camavinga, Tchouameni and Valverde just not it?

Mind you, there is 0 chance Vitinhia is coming here. This is just the usual Madrid leaking to the press unattainable target, then we move to other candidates that are too expensive, then we determine the academy is well suited.

We should look for more attainable targets. Would revisit Stiller, look at how Rodri closes out the season and in the WC, explore someone like Tonali.

It’s unfair to place Tchouameni in that category, he’s the 6 and we know he’s not a deep lying playmaker, on the ball his job is to keep the ball moving, not get caught out and offer the occasional risky forward pass, and he does that.

Our blueprint is the 23/24 season, find someone to replace Kroos. If Ceballos wasn’t so inconsistent and injury prone he could be a short term relief, he was last season, then got injured again …

The alternative for me is Bellingham, who can be that person, but he doesn’t want to, because he wants to be close to the goal.

IMHO Jude is more a box to box mid than a tempo controller like Kroos was, not nearly as much vision or quality on the ball, he's very good at what he does but i don't think he's that kind of player, takes way too much time on the ball as well, back then we had mids that could see the next play before they even received the ball properly at times, now we have players who more often than not need to receive the ball then think about what to do and seem adverse to taking too many risks, that means slowing the play down numerous unnecessary touches and lots of sideways and back passes

Yeah, fully agreed on Jude. He has a lot of qualities, but controlling the tempo of the game is not one of them in my opinion. A high-level player with such profile is just not in our team, which is a damn shame.

I am very critical of Bellingham mostly because he hasn't performed consistently well for 2+ years now.

One of Jude's biggest strengths is the PR machine he wields (apparently this includes Kiyan Sobhani and most of his crew). I am glad the fans see beyond his theatrics and are handing him fair critisicm for his football.

For me he does a lot of [mostly pointless] running and pretend pressing but as a midfielder when your passing game is not even average, that raises a lot of questions.

    He's hasn't been good enough as a 8 or a 10.

Personally, I don't see Bellingham staying at the club beyond next season.

He doesn’t have the ability to control games like Kroos and Modric did, but that would slowly come with time.

But he can be a very effective central midfielder right now, he has strong passing, of course not Kroos level but who does. Jude’s ball control, first touch, ability to shield the ball, they’re all at a high level. When he’s in deep central mid positions (i.e. not in the opposition area), he very often makes the correct simple pass …

Box to box mids usually lack the first touch and control which he possesses.

There’s also no one in the market that would do that for us.
