Our last La Liga signing outside of buyback clause was Odriozola way back in 2018? Joselu's team was relegated so they had to loan him out with a permanent option.
Fair enough. I guess our diplomacy has been pretty bad overall the past few years. We've made enemies everywhere.
More reason for me to believe the Zubimendi signing was more about procedural issues than the club not liking the player. The club likes to enjoy a special status in negotiations and league matters so when it comes calling for a favor everybody negotiates with that in mind.
Oh well, good thing there are plenty of other leagues, time to poach from a German club who hates Bayern or a French club who hates PSG.
We have deals at favorable terms with Spanish clubs many times before, like paying over the buyout clause for Illarramendi to avoid Ramos situation again. Pathetic that we've burned away all that good will.
Dude disappeared after a short cameo a few months ago, if he is this highly rated now is the time to try him out when we are decimated at literally every defensive position.
Pretty decent analysis by The Athletic (I'm starting to sound like a broken record): Not sure about some of his conclusions (e.g. his own stats show Chema toward the bottom of switching play, though stats can be skewed by where their current team plays them and how they are instructed to play), but he is open about the lack of clear options. Nice to see Wharton named at the top by an analyst outside this forum.
It was quite entertaining. Two things are pretty clear: 1 staring level CB 1 MF who is gonna be the primary pressure outlet and ball distributor Those are the bare minimum that the board has to get right.
2007834403553349655 is not a valid tweet id I still think he could be the player we need, and on the cheap too.
Liverpool paid over 250 mil. on 3 Bundesliga players last summer. That's what you are competing with on an open market. You are competing with a 100 mil. Euro Woltemade offer from Newcastle. You need to create your own market and trade your own talent (say you include 2 Castilla loans/rights to buy with a buyback) in exchange for a homegrown player. We actually used to do that before the club lined up against Spanish football confrontationally.
I did a little digging through loose agent contacts that I have and a speculation somebody pitched to me was what if the report that he has extended his contract Already and the club is looking for a comfortable time to announce it is true? There was a rumor like that a while ago and sitting down and considering how things are playing it, it doesn't sound too far fetched to me.
Would that not be unprecedented? Or am I just not aware that this can be a thing. I was always under the impression that contract renewals are immediately announced. Especially when you have people like Fabrizio Romano who has his eyes and ears everywhere and would kill to be the first to break the news. Would be a difficult thing to keep a secret, no?
Saudi clubs move for Mohamed Salah and Vinicius Jnr Liverpool and Real Madrid forwards high on wanted list of SPL, which has more room for making marquee signings this summer Mohamed Salah and Vinicius Jnr will be the two prime transfer targets for the Saudi Pro League this summer. Crucially, Saudi clubs will have more opportunities to make highly lucrative offers to marquee players such as Salah and Vinicius, whose own future is in doubt having stalled on a new contract at Real Madrid, later this year. The 25-year-old’s current deal ends on June 30, 2027. A key factor is the expiration of the contracts of a number of big-name players – including Karim Benzema and Salah’s former Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane, who is at Cristiano Ronaldo’s club Al-Nassr. The SPL clubs will target both players, although Alvaro Arbeloa, Real Madrid’s new coach, who replaced Xabi Alonso, has been tasked with trying to make the Brazilian more settled again so he signs a new deal. Vinicius has been out of form this season and was not an automatic starter under Alonso. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...ubs-renew-pursuit-mohamed-salah-vinicius-jnr/
How long back are you talking? Because people have been complaining on this forum about Spanish clubs not giving us good deals and/or making us pay buyouts as long as I can remember.
We had every opportunity to get players like Xabi Alonso and Joaquin to be honest. Look at how smooth the Asensio deal went, or the Canales transfer. Players like Ramos were considerably tougher obviously because their clubs wanted to keep them. Spanish clubs need money right away, so they'd rather deal with clubs that are more "liquid" than we are.
Chema aint that bad from whay I watched but im not sure he is ready for a starter.More for a rotation role.He has good technique for his height.Too bad Stuttgart uses him lately more as a sub than starter.
Milan and Lazio are finalizing an agreement for his transfer in the summer for 20 million. https://as.com/futbol/internacional/al-madrid-le-cae-el-gordo-con-gila-f202601-n/
