No excuses, sign Carreras,Konate and Stiller, this team is so far from the best teams in Europe -PSG,Barcelona etc There right now is literaly only 1 good CB-Hujsen,there isnt a real quality CM,sign Stiller FFS..........that attack,my godnes Vinicius may actually get sold and keep Rodrygo, this is the last summer window in which the club can actually get decent money for Vinicius there is not hope for him at this pont...next summer get rid of Mbappe if the season is trophyless again Asensio sell/loan Jesus sign a new world class CB,get Careras cant watch the Granada level player at LB and a gaalctico alteast 1 need to go
People will say this is only possible in FIFA or Football Manager, but the goal over the next year or two should be to phase out Vini and Rodrygo and bring in Haaland.
So the idea is to sell Vini who may look distracted now but could easily turn it around and be a Balon D' Or winner a year from now. You also suggest selling Mbappe who is a top 10 player in the world on most people lists. And for upgrades you suggest a handfull of mid level players. Luckily we are able to hold onto Rodrygo in this scenario. Signing Haaland only made sense before Mbappe came and when Haaland as a CF in a 433 with was going to have in form Vini and Rodrygo on the wings. City's probably not selling him anyway but it makes no sense to sign Haaland and play him out on the wing just to try and make the Mbappe as a 9 experiment look like not the worst decision the club could make.
Xabi admitted he made a mistake playing 3 attackers so we likely won't see that in any big game. Also said not giving Rodrygo any mins was a technical decision. Sell Rodrygo, sign Konate and another midfielder so that we'd have 8 for 4 midfield spots. Carreras deal seem pretty much done.
the chance of him becoming a Balon Dor level player again playing next to Mbappe is pretty close to 0 ..we have to accept it... on what planet is Mbappe a top 10 player in the world ? His former team doesnt miss him at all and his current team that won 2 doubles in 3 years look like a joke with him on the pitch lets stop overrate these players because they wear a white shirt ......
Mbappe and Haaland would fit together perfectly. Haaland would be the 9, and Mbappe the second striker.
The only positive today was that I got to see Militao and Carvajal and they didn't look like cripples. Hopefully by the start of the season they are ready to go.
Isn't Haaland signed for 10 yrs at city? And while I don't mind Vini leaving, Mbappe is going to magically start pressing/defending, making good off the ball movements into the box or become a better dribbler. This is his final form and its not that great for what the team is trying to achieve.
I haven't watched too much of Konate. If we we're paying for him this summer (€60m is being floated), are there no better CB options out there?
We need 3 good CBs to cover the whole season, so Militao back in shape is a must. With Carvajal and TAA, I just hope Perez don't have any crazy idea converting one of them to LBs
Mbappe hasn't shown for a second he can create chances for anyone but himself. Ditto Haaland. Both of these guys are dependent on players like Vini, Rodrygo, Jude, etc., the irony is you can make a succesful team without a Mbappe but you can't make a succesful team without guys like Vini even if Mbappe scores more goals individually.
We already are struggling adding one enormous ego who doesn't care to run and you want yo add a second? Did you miss how our team chemistry just went to shit? Eyah
Carvajal will be 34 in January, he's just coming back from an ACL. His presence will be ceremonial for the most part.
Ibrahima Konate is now priority. Huijsen > Militao > Konate> Tchouameni > Rudiger > Asencio. Alaba doesn't even count as a player. He's just there to collect a paycheck like Hazard did.
We're not getting a CB unless we move Alaba and even then, I can't see the club adding a 5th CB to the squad with the 4 guys we have already. Rudiger's time at Madrid was finished when he played every single game possible on shitty knees last season. It was a pipe dream to believe he'd be back to his regular self this year. But he has 2 more years here. I have no words for Asencio's decline. He won't even be a Nacho is he doesn't tighten up. I know everyone wrote Eder off but like I said in the CWC thread, I think he can eventually win back that starting CB spot. But he should still be slowly integrated into the team this season.
I always forget about Alaba. He's like an invisible player at this point. It is true we won't get any CB unless we offload him. Another proper transfer...
Scalvini might be an option, young [21] and 194cm like Huijsen. Only problem is he had a previous ACL. I remember liking him and Huijsen a lot while looking at young CBs. He's only rated at 35M; but we need to move in quick as Newcastle are seeking a deal.
yes, and you can already see the impact when he is not playing. Militao have a lot of experience, but I'm just not sure how fragile he'll be this season, so between the 3 of them, Rudi with his aging body, Militao and his fragile (maybe) body, and Dean, we are probably looking at a few weeks this season that either Aurlien will need to play CB (which makes our midfield look even worse) or god forbid, Raul A will have to be a starter. The smart choice would be to get another CB. maybe a mid level veteran that can be trusted, but another. If you or anyone in the club count on Alaba to be a "new signing" this year, that's some high level delusional stuff...
We're not going to blame the shortcomings of an entire club on a single player that's done anything he can to get back on the field.
Carreras and that was it. We were told all season it's the old heads fault, just two days ago our new coach was playing himself into the discussion for having reinvented football. I think we've done enough. Xabi should get the season to show what's possible with this team and then we'll see.
