Hence I said you can be like Italy. But odds are against it in my eyes and other eyes. Which is the point of this whole conversation. You were wondering why nobody is talking about Portugal.
it even goes beyond that . If international football was a movie Portugal would be the bad guy. Come and join our side .....mwuaahahah.
I don't see Portugal as the bad guy. Just an underdeveloped character in the plot who can be a star but more than likely just gets shot at the end. (Just waiting for the end of the movie to see how the plot goes.)
I think Portugal will be a bit more flamboyant than at Euro 2016 with the quality options that have emerged. Besides, at Euro 2016 Portugal was only defensive and "safety first" 2 matches...vs Croatia and France. Every other game we dominated and either won or should have won based on clear cut scoring chances missed (or Ronaldo missing sitters or pks like vs Iceland, Austria, Poland) where he was not at his best.
Santos doesn't know any other way of playing besides being solid in defence and playing on the counter/scoring on set pieces. With Guedes now in the side, I expect our counter attack to be even more dangerous
We've got FS and I think he's our best coach since???? I believe in him. Tactics will everything, counter attacks are our speciality -- keep pressuring with pace. Bernardo will be awesome. I'm betting on zee Germans, BC, well... They're very good complete team.
You can practically hear commentators groan when they have to praise Portugal. The usual one man team BS. I think the lack of respect comes from having only one international star. I remember watching Spain back in 08/10 and thinking, I've seen that guy on his club team, I remember him. Did that with several players (Iniesta, Villa, Iker). That is how the casual fans think. France has Benzema and Griezmann and seems like the sexy pick already. One thing I did notice, no real Group of Death.
