There’s a lot in that Sam. The Dems concentrated almost wholly on abortion and how women suffer. To the extent that I skipped past it. They missed out on young men and hardly mentioned at all Trumps economy ending with a $4.7 Trillion debt. With his Tax breaks for the oligarchs and Tariff war.
    Or Biden’s latest economy figures.

    yes, this was a miss.
“Before the election, Reeves told the Guardian he was critical of the Democrats’ inability to talk directly to men about their policy platform. He pointed to poorer educational outcomes with fewer men graduating from college and worsening standardized test scores. He also spoke about the worsening mental health, loneliness and suicide crises among this group and the lack of willingness by Democrats to address them directly. Now, with Trump claiming victory with significant support from American men, he says he understands why so many chose to vote Republican.“

Still mathematically possible, but not probable. About the same odds as drawing an inside straight after the flop.

Mrs Scouse sent me this from Twitter or X as we call it now. It’s just some regular Texan talking about his post election feeling.
But trust me it’s well worth a couple of minutes of your time.

He summed it up like few could. pic.twitter.com/76B4fPudCd

What I’d really like is for reporters for the next four years to ask… “what about voter fraud?” Quite amazing how all the noise about this, just disappeared

Well, Kamala Harris is VP it's her job to certify the election .Maybe she's got questions re Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan etc. Perhaps she thinks we need to 'open it up for discussion' and 'find out what the hell is going on' ?

    Just saying..........:)

Thinking about this post for a bit recently. Sure there’s the electoral thing in various countries, but as important and insidious have been essentially the race riots in Britain this summer. 110% ginned up social media and the right.

The British equivalent of a school shooting, a disgruntled teenager with a knife killed 2 and injured 11. The stabber was a British citizen, parents from Rwanda. But the right and social media took off with a Muslim thing, with attacks against mosques, Muslims and immigrants. It spread like wildfire with waaaaaaaaaay too many too eager to believe what was being promulgated on social media by invested actors.

But that’s all it took. It didn’t have to be true, but the rhetoric against immigration, immigrants, crime etc was all too readily believed with zero evidence.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind, none, that Lumpy glommed onto and created exactly the same sentiments this summer in the US. Eating pets? Sure. An immigrant crime wave? Yep. Polluting the gene pool? You got it. And so on and on. Hopefully what the Democrats will have learned here is the need to counteract Haitians eating pet ducks not with incredulity and smirks, but with cold hard facts.

I know they tried and got various mayors to speak out, but not for the first time, the Democrats have been left bemoaning the stupidity in not spelling out in block capital letters why X is not so rather than going down the “can you believe what he just said? route.

On second thoughts, why not have Biden resign, Harris become president and have her pick someone interesting to be VP to oversee the country? :)

    While I don't disagree-
Again though, there is no policy that will increase the viability of young poor economic life in any of Trumps shambolic policy nonsense or suggestions. It is not an economic policy to state - basically, that I don't like inflation. No inflation; me good; scratch under arms. Inflation after me; No Covd; No inflation me. Timeline no exist. Me know bigly stuff. If it is an economic argument, it's the stupidest one I've gever heard.

The absolute demand to keep re-stating this non-solution to a problem across all channels is one of the few keys to this lack of hammering home their message mess. It might not have fully worked, not without other ancillary efforts at communication with people who didn't fully want to be communicated with - but at least it would have been plastered out there.

The New Statesman is deliberately trying to annoy me - putting
these three names int he same line.....

Humanity and the intense knowledge of the human spirit and endeavour, and its complete antithesis -
I'll leave it for people to figure out themselves which is which.....

hey guys... sorry to say this, but this sort of thing has been going on in MI since I was a grad student at MSU back in the early '90s. There has been an active white supremacist movement in MI since forever. Did Trump's win get them all riled up so they decided to do this? Probably, but they've been there all along. Every couple of years they try to hold a march in one of the big college towns and everyone gets worked up about it - and there are often fights in the street, because there are way more people who vehemently (sometimes violently) disagree with these loonies.

Time to be clear-eyed about the problems and not go into a knee-jerk rage every time there is an incitement by the far-right folks who think they just won the lottery. To easy to get distracted about the little things, when you should really be focused on the big things. Like, what went wrong with the momentum that had been built up 2020-2022, and how to approach 2026 so that the LoonyTunesCrew only have two years to forck things up.

That’s going on in my mind as well. The next two years could be a wake up call for those who really thought that Drumpf would be better than Kamala how fuked up they were in their thinking.
Perhaps, here’s hoping. That we could control both houses and control Trump in ‘26

All true, I have no doubt. My point in posting that news clip more to show how emboldened these types were, that this type of demonstration will become more usual and I sincerely doubt there’ll be few if any consequences for them either legally or socially.

I don’t buy into the scare stories doing the rounds on the left of an unleashed army or camps or targeted prosecutions. Where I do see retribution from the Lumpy types will be in the above type demonstrations and that blatant bigotry will become the new normal. Add this to gay marriage being outlawed again and a whole host of other aggressions against the liberal ethos.

DeSantis and Paxton in Tx targeted TV stations and voters’ rights organizations respectively before the elections. In fairness, both were shut down by the courts. But that’s going to become the new normal. While the bully boys and Nazis parade in the streets.

    Thus it begins.

Lumpy “jokes” about running again if the House Republicans can do something.
