Over in China right now (business trip) and the thought over here is that Trump would be better for China than Harris. They think he'd be willing to make a deal over Taiwan, whereas a Harris government would not... They might be right...
I was just reading some "man on the street" feedback from China. One said Trump would be better for peace because he said he would stop the Ukraine war in one day .........
holy jesus .... https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/14/us/fema-helene-north-carolina-reported-threats/index.html Aid to several communities impacted by Hurricane Helene was temporarily paused in parts of North Carolina over the weekend due to reports of threats against Federal Emergency Management Agency responders, amid a backdrop of misinformation about responses to recent storms. Some FEMA teams helping disaster survivors apply for assistance in rural North Carolina are currently working at secure disaster recovery centers in counties where federal workers are receiving threats, a FEMA spokesperson told CNN on Monday. “For the safety of our dedicated staff and the disaster survivors we are helping, FEMA has made some operational adjustments,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “Disaster Recovery Centers will continue to be open as scheduled, survivors continue to register for assistance, and we continue to help the people of North Carolina with their recovery.” On Saturday, FEMA workers had to halt their work in Rutherford County due to reports that National Guard troops saw “armed militia” threatening the workers, according to the Washington Post, which cited an email to federal agencies helping with the response, verified by unnamed federal officials. It’s not clear if the threat was credible.
Some odd shit at Lumpy’s PA town hall Q&A. In short order, after a number of questions, 2 people fainted causing delayed while medical attention was administered. OK then. Happens. After the second person was helped, Lumpy decides that there have been enough questions, "Let's not do any more questions. Let's just listen to music. Who the hell wants to hear questions?" Odd, but oooooo-kaaay…. Just a musical interlude to quiten down the crowd and get back on track, right? Nope. Firstly, Lumpy spends 5 minutes just standing on stage doing nothing, one arm hanging longer than the other. Then the music starts. They’re in PA, so what’s an obvious choice? Racist dog whistle and all? Why, “Dixie”, of course. Always a deep and meaningful song in PA. Then Lumpy stands awkwardly for 40 minutes(!) listening to music and wraps it up. This is normal behavior, right? 40 minutes of Lumpy’s curated playlist. Dixie; Ave Maria; Time To Say Goodbye; It's A Man's World; YMCA; Hallelujah; Nothing Compares 2 U; An American Trilogy; Rich Men North of Richmond; November Rain; Memory from Cats. Totally normal, not dementia behavior at all. No, not even a tiny bit.
This prediction business is so easy. So, so easy. “I have just seen Kamala’s Report, and it is not good. According to her Doctor’s Report, she suffers from 'urticaria,' defined as 'a rash of round, red welts on the skin that itch intensely, sometimes with dangerous swelling.' She also has 'allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis,' a very messy and dangerous situation. These are deeply serious conditions that clearly impact her functioning, maybe that is why she can’t answer even the simplest of questions asked by 60 Minutes, and others. What is this all about? I don’t have these problems." Urticaria is hives, which are triggered by many things. Allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis are seasonal allergies, which affect millions of Americans. Either of these and certainly both together means the person is unfit to be president. Ho-hum. Kitchen sink time obviously. He’s throwing everything at her in the hope that most everything sticks.
With this example of logic most of whatever he says is likely to stick. This person says mass shootings can only be stopped by more guns. (youtube.com)
A correction and update. Firstly, it wasn’t 40 minutes, it was 57. Secondly, Lumpy was calling out the tunes to be played. He was also dancing along to them. More than a few gerontologists and dementia specialists have said that they wouldn’t diagnose without an examination, but this sudden shift into an almost fugue like state definitely looks like sun downing and the overall import of their various takes is that the first port of call, working hypothesis, etc. were Lumpy to present for an examination would be in the realm of dementia. I’ve been saying it for a while here (I think I first said something about 11 months-a year ago), I think he’s got a serious unresolvable dementia problems that’re being hidden by those close to him, pretty much the way Nancy covered for Ronald Reagan. This is more insidious because Nancy was never looking to be president herself or make $1m. Pretty much all the true believers in Lumpy’s orbit are grifters who would sell him out in a heartbeat for an extra $4.02 with tax.
I have no polling data to back this up, other than my own unwillingness to commit my vote number as reliable data to a stranger- and my assumption that many many thousands more mirror me here in this; and that crucially, none of them are forgiving or forgetting Jan 6th - or accepting that it is okay for the scum politicans seeking naked power around Trump to attemot to posit ridiculously insulting lies about "tourist visits. etc" That's before I even begin to talk about the average woman who isn't signed on hard to the 30% of the population who don;t care if she or her daughter dies in a medical emergency where she needn't have And based on these things and the worse (as a representative human being) that Trump is getting weekly/daily and the spectral sight of goons like Stephen Miller and Roger Stone lurking about the miasma behind him... I have my own lurking sense that this could be a thorough rout.....
Reagan also wasn't in the habit of long, warbling, non-thought-out speeches containing approx 90% nonsense - his arguments, wrong as they mighht have been, economically, were at least arguable - so in his case it would have been more necessary to curtail and edit him from the public in the last 2-3 years so that he didn't start to sound like a bad recording trump has always been talking garbage amidst the stew of bile and egomania and what-not, so it's harder to affect his supporters.... But to not (adversely) affect those who might have felt Washington needed a little change 8 years ago- he really would need to be in a soundless padded room....
for the US election, I'm looking at the trends in recent polls, and am now losing complete faith in the overall US electorate. at this point, how the hell can any sentient human being feel that Trump is in any way a better choice to run a country? seriously. what does it take - what more evidence to people need? more lies? more criminality? more grifting? more threats to public safety? more misogyny? more racism? more displays of rampant narcissism, ignorance and mental incapacity? more documented plans to rip apart vital components of good governance and social responsibility? more completely nonsensical ideas on health care? more completely nonsensical ideas on the economy? more completely nonsensical ideas on international relations? somebody please help me understand. WHAT THE FUKK DO THESE PEOPLE NEED TO SEE?
He'd be their buddy until one of them mentioned the truth about his hair, and then there would be a change of heart.. Churchill could have stopped WW II in a day also.....
FoxNews TownHall: “What would do about the price of bacon?” Lumpy: "There wouldn't have been an Ukraine and Russia, there wouldn't have been an October 7.”
When asked how he would reduce inflation which was already falling? "Look, the interest rate hasn't come down very much and you have this — uh. You make donuts. You have the stoves. You have the this. Everything has evolved.” I’m not posting these as any sort of primer as to why Lumpy shouldn’t be President - any competent democracy would have already barred him from running - I’m posting these to show his dementia deterioration. There are many, many people in his inner circle who know very well that he’s not (no longer) qualified. Their end game, I’d be pretty certain is an extraordinarily cynical one. It’s too late and too dodgy for a switcheroo, so they’re going with the horse they have in the hope that the increasingly longer and longer shot they have will win. And if he does then it’ll be pigs at the trough. Someone will run the country, that’s nothing to do with the vast majority of them, they’re just in it for moolah and hopefully to be set up for life.
I don;t think that is the primary game of people like Mike Johnson or that cretin Mike Flynn though.... With any luck/sanity prevailing, Johnson won't be in charge anymore after early January
Trump is trying to buy Stormy Daniels' silence again. https://www.msnbc.com/all-in/watch/...stormy-daniels-to-be-quiet-again-221947973843
I just watched it (quite a feat of endurance while here in China atm...). I agree. Was reading headlines about how contentious it was upon occasion, and it was. But frankly, other than some really misleading justifications from Baier for some of his defenses of Trump, it was frankly a good, hard-hitting argument over some fundamental differences in viewing what the country is doing right now. Frankly, I'd like more of this from our politicians. They ought to have to stand up (or sit) and defend their positions and aims for the country! Baier leaned a bit too much at the beginning trying to "frame" the discussion on the terms that Fox News has been pushing about this election. Personally, I think that framing is disingenuous at its core, and should be repudiated. So, while a bit messy, Harris' pushback was warranted, and frankly, largely successful. Any honest person, who I think Baier probably still is (in his heart), will end up giving in to the truth when really pressed to. Which by the end, by and large, he did.
Seems like a lot of Republicans are begrudgingly giving her credit: Fox News anchor Bret Baier admits Kamala Harris did damage to Trump: ‘She was on a mission’ https://www.nj.com/politics/2024/10...did-damage-to-trump-she-was-on-a-mission.html “The beautiful thing about the Bret Baier interview is that Kamala Harris understood and responded to each question,” Cuban tweeted. “She used examples of policies. She gave real world context. When Bret went hard after her, she didn’t call him names. She didn’t quit the interview. She didn’t make things up. She never once complained the questions were tough. She never played the victim card. She didn’t lose her temper. “She didn’t take the bait to diminish or talk down to Trump supporters. She stood up to him with force and never backed down. Even Fox News host Dana Perino admitted that Harris was “fairly effective” when she was getting her points across about Trump. Fox colleague Brit Hume said Harris was “combative and energetic and she certainly landed some blows on Donald Trump".
