Donald Trump was reportedly caught on tape turning the grieving widow of a man who died at one of his rallies into a source of amusement for his uber-wealthy dinner guests. The recording, obtained by The Guardian, apparently comes from a private meal Trump held Aug. 10 in Aspen, Colorado. In it, the Republican presidential nominee reportedly recalled a meeting with the wife of Corey Comperatore, the man who was killed by shots fired at Trump by Thomas Crooks at a Pennsylvania rally in July. “So they’re going to get millions of dollars but the woman, the wife, this beautiful woman, I handed her the check—we handed her the check—and she said, ‘This is so nice, and I appreciate it, but I’d much rather have my husband.’ Now I know some of the women in this room wouldn’t say the same,” Trump reportedly said. “At least four couples here would have been thrilled, actually.” The dinner, which Trump reportedly flew in for on a private jet once owned by disgraced financier and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, was held at the $38 million home of art collectors and investors John and Amy Phelan, with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), gambling mogul Steve Wynn, and billionaire Thomas Peterffy also in attendance. There were about 100 attendees at the event, which required couples to pony up $500,000 to serve on the host committee or at least $25,000 to attend at all. Those who cut checks included Warren G. Lichtenstein, executive chairman of Steel Partners; former hedge fund manager Duke Buchan, who served as ambassador to Spain in Trump’s presidency; Houston billionaires Mindy and Jeff Hildebrand; Drew McKnight, a billionaire donor to the failed No Labels effort; and Andrew McKenna. Over the course of the meal, The Guardian reported that Trump launched into an expletive-laden rant about undocumented migrants. The former president allegedly claimed that “smart, very streetwise” political leaders around the world are deliberately channeling convicted criminals into the U.S. to destabilize the country. He also spoke at length, according to The Guardian, about a supposed incident, denied by the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in which more than 20 people traveled to the U.S. after being released from prison in the Central African nation. “We said, ‘Where do you come from?’ They said, ‘Prison.’ ‘What did you do?’ ‘None of your f---ing business what we did,’” he claimed an exchange between the supposed convicts and unspecified U.S. officials went down. “You know why? Because they’re murderers.” Seemingly recognizing this had perhaps pushed the boat a little too far for his guests, the recording then reportedly featured Trump saying, “I hate to use that foul language.” “These are the toughest people. These people are coming in from Africa, from the Middle East,” he reportedly went on. “They’re coming in from all parts of Asia, the bad parts, the parts where they’re rough, and the only thing good is they make our criminals look extremely nice. They make our Hell’s Angels look like the nicest people on earth.” Trump, who still refuses to admit his 2020 electoral loss to President Joe Biden, further used his high-roller audience to portray his Democratic rival Kamala Harris as a dire threat to American democracy. “Look, we gotta win and if we don’t win this country’s going to hell,” he reportedly said. “You know, there’s an expression, this could be the last election we ever have, and it’s an expression that I really believe, and I believe that this could be the last election we ever have.”
Idle thoughts. Jack Smith is still ploughing away (will probably be stopped by the SC) and there have been a raft, an oil tanker, several oil tankers of January 6th convictions with more to come. Furthermore there have also been a huge number of people who have had their lives destroyed coming too close into Lumpy’s orbit. That number is spectacular also, Giuliani, Ellis, Lindell, etc. So with that stage set, onto my idle thoughts. Lumpy is obviously scared shitless of prison and no way no how is he going to put himself in the firing line come November. In football parlance, he won’t want to give the ref a reason to make a decision. So just watch how many others he’s going to get to grift, to lay their lives, reputations, etc. on the line all the while keeping clean hands himself. Which leads to the obvious question. When his crazies see him chomping down on well done Waygu with ketchup, being oblique, encouraging without getting his feet wet, how long will they stay in the game? I have zero doubt, zero, that he’s most definitely going to remain on the sidelines. Not for our Lumpy is the field of play when the penalty is imprisonment. Let’s watch.
I listened to the interview of VP Harris on the Call Her Daddy podcast this morning. She did an excellent job. I hope millions of American women are listening.
It was so good, that Fox & Friends was complaining this morning that if you only listened to the podcast and knew very little else, that you’d feel compelled to vote for her.
“If you don’t know the issues, you really think, ‘Okay, she’s selling herself, she’s talking about women’s rights and how Donald Trump has stacked the court with all these conservative justices’—and if you’re a woman listening to that podcast and you don’t know how progressive she is, you might vote for her.” Ainsley Earhardt

This article features the city and county where I live and some of the research was done by a friend of mine. The Xn nationalists are dangerous AF and are insidiously infiltrating government. I've been researching this stuff for a while and it's genuinely terrifying to contemplate. https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2024/10/new-apostolic-reformation-christian-nationalism/ The Trump Bible's reflect Christian reconstructionism's goals of remaking the Constitution as well. It all speaks volumes about how underdeveloped are the more modern thought processes - which have spread fairly naturally in nearly every other developed country - and how they have been stifled by this weirdly 20th Century untrammeled religiosity in some of these US locales/regions. I noticed it on first encountering talk radio here 30 years ago. It (sure as heck sounded) and was a nasty tinderbox of poison just waiting for some societal villians with a box of matches. Enter social media and in-tandem with that, the election of a black man .... and presto..... Out of the 20th Century we can produce the 14th...
The cherry on top has just been revealed. The Lumpy bibles are printed and manufactured in “Ji-na”. Of course they are, and will probably be exempt from all tariffs should Numbnuts win next month.
I have little doubt that if Xi Jinping offered Lumpy a special deal for his hotels wherein he could make, personally, $10.46, he’d ensure there were no Chinese tariffs. The thing is, most people know this.
Prediction time. Harris is to release her medical report Saturday/Sunday/Monday. I’m going to presume it’ll present with no problems. Watch the conspiracy theories abound from Lumpy and the right wing media.
A Harris canary in a Pennsylvania coal mine? Maybe. Scott Perry is one of those odious MAGAidiots who glommed his way onto the Lumpy wagon very early on. He’s not known for much in the House other than being a diehard MAGAidiot. His district is PA10 and he’s a 5?6? term Congresscritter. Lumpy won his district by 4 in 2020. PA10 is generally considered a GOP seat but it’s within reach. It’s rated +6 or 7 for GOPers, meaning that’s their inbuilt advantage. Anyway, a local poll, by a respected neutral arbiter, SPR, released a poll. An eye opening poll. Because it has Perry down by 9, 48-39, to Democrat Janelle Stelson. That’s huge if correct. SPR is well rated by those who rate pollsters, so this sounds legit. Now, maybe it’s an outlier, a one off, just a snapshot in time, localized to PA10. So maybe it’s not +9. But if it is and with Lumpy winning PA10 by 4 in 2020, this does mean the Lumpy campaign is in trouble in PA as a whole.
I guess what's a little bit interesting is that the broad national polls keep flip-flopping and some are even saying that lumpy's got the electoral college advantage, but nobody is able to really quantify the Democratic ground game which has been going overtime for the last 2 1/2 months. Couple that with Harris not making any huge gaffes so far - It's really interesting to guess where the race truly lies.
Agree wholeheartedly. To know where the race really stands, well, both campaigns would probably pay you more money than you make here as Mod. But this PA10 poll, if accurate, could be a beginning in divining the true nature of the state of play, and I repeat myself, but if accurate is a big game changer. Everyone and their pup knows PA is in play, a swing state and this poll, when extrapolated statewide, puts Harris way ahead. And if she has PA in the bag, it narrows Lumpy’s path and expands hers hugely. If. I suspect there’s going to be a lot of internal campaign polling in the next few days checking out SPR’s poll and we’ll see all the major pollsters ramping up their PA phone banks. But then we’re back to your original quandary: where do things really stand?
This is the issue (amongst others) with state owned clubs and whether even a government oversight commitee would provide objective decisions. https://www.theguardian.com/busines...ue-says-business-secretary-after-cabinet-rift You just can’t tie state investment with football ownership. You’re giving all the leverage to the state and will always have a conflict of interest.
