Tchouameni has been the Mbappe of our midfield, immense season and yet again a dominant game today. Seems to be everywhere.
And he still has more to give. Especially in his distribution and build up. He’s that good. This system is suiting him so much better. Most players of his profile do better in organized systems.
I am trying to decide who is worse ref in recent history iturralde or Manzano . Little bit concerning how Xabi wasnt been able to find solution to control and kill the game in the second half.
Can't fault Fede much, he is being asked I think different things than before and is still trying to find his footing. Add some 7000min played min ver the last year...
We have played four la Liga games... In two we have been decimated by the refs.... How do you kill off a second half with ten men and having a target on your back?
The team is too much dependent on Mbappe. We need more G&A from other players. I know Guler scored today, but we will need 10+ numbers from other players
I’m worried about our CB situation. Asencio looked very rusty in his cameo. Gotta get his confidence back up quickly. I agree Fede hasn’t looked effective under Xabi thus far. Today a hangover from Int’l duty most likely but overall we need to get him going. Militao battling and doing what he needed to. Carreras solid if a little slow to read their 1-2s at times. That could be said for almost all our players though. Courtois with some great saves and interventions keeping them from netting again. Tough win
For me, The only real conclusion to be drawn from a game where you go down to 10 men in the first half is whether the team showed mental toughness and warrior spirit or no. The rest, this might not be the game to judge that stuff.
Glad Asencio didn't crap the bed when he came on. was solid. He should probably start against Marseille....must rest Militao....had a big shift today. Drop Militao, Vini and Fede against Marseille.
Anoeta is one of the toughest games to play, let alone almost a hour with 10 men. They had nothing to say until the red card, good first half and sealed the win in the second half. Refreshing to see a coach using his subs.
I largely echo others feelings, but I don't think we looked that defensively solid even before the red card. The game was much more open and we were dominating possession less. It led to us having more chances, but we also looked more vulnerable at the back. I thought we were fortunate that La Real didn't have a really good finisher, as they had chances and half chances even before the red. I also don't really see the criticisms of Fede's cameo. I've been critical of his offensive creation so far, but I thought he did a relatively good job of fighting for balls and holding opposing players in their position. The balls he won and cleared did seem to go right back to them, but as we didn't have anyone committed forward, I'm not sure how else it might have gone (though i thought he could have put them a bit more into space and maybe forced them to throw it in if it went out.
Thankfully RMTV are doing their work early 🚨 BREAKING: RMTV show court reports where Negreira ‘recommended’ Barcelona to ‘take great care’ of their relationship with referee Jesus Gil Manzano due to his ‘future potential’. This would have been an easy win if the ref hadn’t decided to make it about himself. At least 3-0. Sociedad had no answer before the red card.
The red card did not help, but boy this was an ugly show. I hope to see some improvements soon, and until then, hopefully we keep getting all 3 points!!
Arda seems to be the real deal huh? Really enjoying his contributions so far. Let's see what he does against big clubs.
