Fans, this is our first go-round with a regular season all-in-one thread. Let's see how we like it, and thanks Goodsport, for all the heavy lifting.
An away game at altitude is not a good thing. But the players should be well rested (Salt Lake even more so). Ian will have enough practice time to work on a few things. And according to Ian, Daniel is close to being back. So there's a chance for at least a point.
Only the old men hate it, because it requires more work to read, when their Dinosaur asses should be happy they don't have to figure out how to navigate the back button on their computers or swiping backwards on their smart phones.
If you want to read postgame comments for example, you have to “find them”. There’s no marker. If it’s separate thread you just go to the thread. But not a big deal either way.
Everything will flow like it has in 1 big conversation. Makes it easier for us folks who dont attend home games because of location. Harder for those who do. Away games no one has an excuse.
Given that we’re away at altitude, we ought to go three days early to acclimate a bit. It’s not like we don’t have the time, and we saved a bundle by not signing anyone in the transfer window, so we should be able to afford it. Go Quakesfans!! F#$& Fisher!!
Look here missy, I was on BS before most people had cell phones! This Tick Tock crowd just has to everything easy and handed to them! Excuse me, I have to go put my teeth back in...
I'm an old man who has worked in tech for 40+ years (think satellite communications, 3G, 4G, 5G DAS & Small Cell) and can more than handle "swiping backwards". I don't like it cause' it's not an efficient use of my ever dwindling time on this planet!
Of course, some might argue that watching Quakes games is a depressing and futile use of our dwindling time on this planet. I won't say that, but I could.
Our team have some ‘splainin’ to do. How can we be this shitty and make no effort to improve? We need a culture overhaul, which is only going to come from new people. This is basic organizational stuff. We need help, in half a dozen departments. This is pathetic! I’m pissed! Good thing I have whiskey and concert tickets. Go Quakesfans!!
Good point, but for me, hanging out with wife & friends while sharing a few a cold ones at a soccer match, is dwindling time well spent!
No matter how good or bad the team hanging out with my daughter (during the Spartan Stadium days) and my mates on the crew made it some of my favorite times.
We all used to see more of the players at Spartan. I remember fan dinners before games that players would attend (Ryan Cochrane once asking if he could cut in line in front of me!) and players would hang out afterwards and chat with fans, sometimes handing out items like goalie gloves to kids. And of course there were all the cool fan giveaways, like trash cans and lunchboxes, and a couple of times when I didn't snag one, @bsman would manage to find one for me.
The whole vibe was more family. Nowadays it’s all corporate. I think this is really who runs the team:
John Doyle, Craig Waibel and Joe Cannon were always present pre game for the fans. My best memories as a kid was being around the players. As a child everyone was larger then life, especially the "superstars". Regardless of what we think now, as a kid in the 90s and a pre teen, seeing people like Alexi Lalas, Cobi Jones, John Harkes, Carlos Valderamma, Tony Meola and the big names was always the coolest shit.
