    +1 on this.
Club America is a top notch team to bring to the states.

More a reflection of my general malaise at the worth of my season tickets this year. I couldn't afford the Eagles (even at my ticket holder rate), have no interest in Kenny Chesney, and I doubt any sort of concert priority will pay off. I think Everton will be good, and I'm looking forward to it, but it wasn't a first choice by anyone. I'm thrilled for the WCQ - but it's not in the package, and those tickets could still be had through a SG membership. I think the FO did a good job getting Club America, I just have zero interest in Mexican soccer - might as well try and recoup some money on them. I'd have probably been better off $$-wise just buying single game tickets to the RSL matches I wanted, but I'm pretty sure we've beaten that horse to death four or five times over.

hold on a second, i am not sure you understand what i am saying
they are a top team, yes, but they had a little bit of an off year.
HOWEVER, they have a following here in the states and obviously here in utah. This game I see more as a move by Dave to bring in money rather than talent (though he got both).

I may have mis-read the intent of your comment - Clearly they are not the 'Club America' of previous decades.... and hopefully they do bring in a lot of fans and a great atmosphere to Rio Tinto.

But there is a reason they were included in the World Football Challenge with Chelsea, Milan and Inter this summer.

To have a 'bottom of the table' MLS club (ie RSL) actually secure Club America as one of it's international friendlies in their house is a coup -- Even in a down year domestically, due to the tradition and history of this particular club.

And I'm guessing they were more expensive than you might think - Strictly financially speaking, surely there were other options that would have been more profitable for Checketts.

I predict a Utah loss. They can't win on the road either.

I do predict that they will score.

This quote from the Toronto Sun makes me appreciate the fact that I did get to see Real Madrid (when they were better than they are now) and it didn't cost me anything extra to do it.......

JUST LIKE TO SEE MADONNA? )@#$&*$(*$!!

And I think this year's River Plate could beat down this year's Real Madrid squad..... well maybe not, but Boca could! (sorry poqui!)

RM is going to be adding a bunch of players. With the addition of Kaka, the rumor of Villa, Ronaldo, etc... that would be a team worth seeing (and nothing like they were during the season)

If Real Madrid were to return to SLC, in Rice Eccles, at similar ticket prices to last time they came - I'm guessing you would still only get 50% show up at those tickets prices from 3 or 4 years ago.

Don't under-estimate the 'Beckham' impact - that brought out thousands and thousands when he was still an int'l pop icon. SLC is not a soccer hotbed, no way you get another 30 to 40k at $50+ per seat if Real Madrid were to return.

I will be very surprised if we ever see Real Madrid return to SLC for a friendly - unless they cut their appearance fee dramatically.

I agree. The LA games are proof that 10k plus of those people that showed up for the RM game were there just to see Beckham. Kaka just doesn't quiet have the same draw. Maybe if they pick up C Ronaldo.

so with madrid adding Ronaldo, Kaka, and who knows who else this transfer window... is anybody else getting just more and more frustrated with the fact that we didnt put this "agreement" on paper?

I am sure that just like last time, with a very sizable fee it can be revived...

They add kaka and ronaldo, two of my favorite players. Whats next? They add vidic and Pato? Ugh, i REALLY wish we could get them out here!!!! so much for an agreement. Now we just have an idiotic name with nothing to back it up to say "see, this is why we are called Real"

I'm more convinced than ever that Real Madrid must have ties to the Mafia - this is beyond a spending spree -

I think that "appearance fee" just increased....
