Doesn't time fly when you're having fun.

Since last update Oviedo have won 19 drawn 4, scored 59 goals and were the first club in Spain to be crowned Champions. Last week they hit the 100 point mark and if they score 3 at home in last match they'll also have 100 goals scored.

    Here are the results:

    (home) Candás C.F. 2 - 0
    (away) Univ. de Oviedo 3 - 1
    (away) Llanes 1 - 0
    (home) Caudal 2 - 0
    (away) Condal 2 - 0
    (away) C.D.Cudillero 0 - 0
    (home) Gijón Industrial 3 - 0
    (away) Siero 1 - 0
    (home) C.D. Covadonga 4 - 1
    (away) Ribadesella 3 - 1
    (home) C.D.Tuilla 1 - 0
    (away) Astur 1 - 0
    (home) Nalon C.F. 0 - 0
    (away) Real Avilés Ind. 1 - 0
    (home) Navarro 4 - 1
    (away) Mosconia de Grado 3 - 0
    (home) Ceares 7 - 0
    (away) Lealtad 0 - 0
    (home) U.P.Langreo 5 - 1
    (away) Candás C.F. 2 - 2
    (home) Univ. de Oviedo 6 - 1
    (home) Llanes 4 - 0
    (away) Caudal 1 - 0

So Oviedo have one to play before they go into the new look Play-off finals.

    January Signings: (2)

Goal Keeper ENEKO from Racing Portuense (Segunda B)
Striker MOISES from Fuerteventura (Segunda B)

Goal Keeper - Eneko Loinaz Valle Born 23-2-85 (23) Avilés (Asturias)

Striker - Moisés Alberto Martínez Moldes 19-1-82 (27) Las Palmas (Gran Canaria)

Eneko has started 2 games (both clean sheets)
Moises has 7 starts 2 sub and 4 goals.

    -----

    Notable Achievements this season:

Diego Cervero will again be "Pichichi" in Tercera Group 2, following on from last seasons goals Cervero currently has 35 goals scored this season.

Likewise Oinatz Aulestia the goalkeeper will again pick up the "Zamora" trophy as the best goalkeeper in the division for least goals conceeded, just 8 in 30 matches played.

    ----

    The Squad going into the Play-offs is almost at full strength;

    Last team selected v Caudal

    GK Aulestia
    RB Ruben
    CB Gonzalo
    CB Hedrera
    LB Lasarte
    DM Pelayo
    DM Curro
    RM Villanueva
    AM Alex
    LM Jaime
    CF Cervero

Subs: GK Eneko, CB Farina, CM Mario Preito LM Invernon.

For Play-offs Farina could well come in at central defence with Gonzalo switching to right back, Mario Preito likewise could come in for Pelayo and Invernon either as a left back or left sided forward, all 3 are excellent players who have proved themselves this season.
Pelayo Jaime and Lasarte have also stepped in when there have been injuries and suspensions and done the business so they could still keep their places ahead of the aforementioned more experianced players.
Other squad players who could come in, Nacho Mendez who's had an excellent debut season, and forwards Jorge Rodrigues (10 goals) and Moises both fighting for a place on the bench.

the 4-2-3-1 formation will almost certainly be stuck with Alex as the support for Diego Cervero forming an execellent attacking partnership. First choice wing men would likely be Sergio Villanueva and Armando Invernon, in midfield as holding players Mario Preito and Curro. Defence would then line-up, Goal -Aulestia, Right back Gonzalo, Left back Lasarte and Central defenders Hedrera
    and Farina.

How are sides from Asturias doing this season?

    Premier League -

Sporting Gijon - 18th Place (Last Relegation spot)
2 points from safety with 3 to play, they have got just 1 point from last 8 matches, but have 2 winnable home games remaining - still favorates to go down.

    Segunda B -

    Sporting Gijon B - 16th (Relegation Play-off)
Marino Luarca - 20th (Last spot - Relegated)

    Tercera - Group 2

Real Oviedo - 100 points Champions
    Universidad - 73 points
    Candas - 67 points
    Llanes - 66 points

Champions face a Play-off, 18 teams go head to head for 9 Promotion places.
2nd to 4th Place play-off along with the losing Champions for remaning 9 promotion places.

Real Oviedo have therefore 2 chances to go up this year so really shouldn't blow the Play-offs again.

Real Oviedo B "Vetusta" are Champions of their division and have been promoted to the Regional Preferente, one division below Tercera.

    Match 38: (home) Condal (Sunday 17th May - 5pm)

Last game of season and Oviedo need 3 goals to hit the 100 goals mark, on top of the 100 points secured last week.

Oviedo manager has said though that he will not risk any first team players so the likely starting XI is as follows:
Iván; José Luis, Hedrera, Nico, Invernón; Nacho López, Mario Prieto, André, Valiente; Jorge Rodríguez and Moisés.

(Suspended - Curro, Sergio Villanueva and Fariña)

An attacking line up with flair on wings from Nacho Lopez and Valinete and experiance upfront from the strikers.
Possible debut for Brazilian midfielder André, and a start for youth teamer Nico in central defence.
Youngster Ernesto joins the first team squad for first time, and there's a squad call-up for the other Brazilian youngster Fabinho.
Fringe players will get a go to impress, the likes of Valiente, Jorge Rodríguez and Moisés.

Condal are 11th in table 58 points behind Oviedo. Condal have conceeded 49 more goals and scored 55 less. A slight gulf in class, but will Oviedos second string get the 3 goals?

    Match 38

    Real Oviedo 3-1 Condal

    Real Oviedo 4-2-3-1

    GK Iván
    RB José Luis
    CB Nico (Ernesto 67m)
    CB Dani Hedrera
    LB Invernón
    DM Mario Prieto
    DM André
    LM Nacho López (Matías 49m)
    AM Moisés (Nacho Méndez 46m)
    RM Valiente
    CF Jorge Rodríguez
    .

    1-0, 16 min Jorge Rodríguez
    2-0, 18 min Jorge Rodríguez
    3-0, 76 min Nacho Méndez
    3-1, 80 min Yeyo

Oviedo fielded a Second string team with a number of first teamers missing (Aulestia, Ruben, Gonzalo, Lasarte, Jaime, Alex and Diego Cervero rested alongside suspended Villanueva, Curro and Farina)

Final game of the season Oviedo had 97 goals on the board, this quickly became 99 goals by the 18th minute with total dominance from the home side, two goals from goal poacher Jorge Rodríguez. When the 100th goal came it was a magnificent solo effort from youngster Nacho Mendez, dribbling through the Condal defence and slotting home confidently.

Oviedo go into Play-offs on a high with a very strong deep squad of players, many on show today will not even get on the bench next match.

    Tercera Champions 2008-09

    Group 1 - Compostela (85 points)
    Group 3 - Gimnástica de Torrelavega (101)
    Group 4 - Lagun Onak (73)
    Group 5 - Español B (83)
    Group 6 - Villajoyosa (74)
    Group 7 - Alcalá (88)
    Group 8 - Palencia (90)
    Group 9 - Unión Estepona (87)
Group 10 - San Roque de Lepe (74)
    Group 11 - Real Mallorca B (87)
    Group 12 - C.D.Tenerife B (81)
    Group 13 - Caravaca (87)
    Group 14 - Cerro Reyes (92)
    Group 15 - Izarra (92)
    Group 16 - Varea (96)
    Group 17 - Monzón (88)
    Group 18 - Toledo (78)

Play-Off Draw Monday afternoon, Oviedo will face one of the teams above in a 2 leg Play-off final, winners get Promotion. Losers enter play-offs with all the other teams who finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th for remaining 9 Promotion places.

Gimnástica de Torrelavega with 101 points and 103 goals look like one of the toughest opponents, like Oviedo they were Champions last season and also missed out on Promotion in the Play-offs.

Varea (104 goals) and Caravaca (115) are the only other sides to score more goals than Oviedo. Caravaca are the team who finished 4th in their group last season and were drawn to face Oviedo in the Play-off semi-finals, after a shocking 1-4 away defeat Oviedo won the home match 4-2 after leading 3-0 going out on aggregate 5-6. There was alot of animosity as Caravaca tried every dirty trick in the book, such as shortening the width of their pitch to compress play at home.

Gimnastica the ones to miss then but perhaps Caravaca would be nice to get revenge over. Gimnastic would be the closest match, in Cantabria whilst Caravaca is one of the longest trips (could get a tie in Mallorca or Tenerife), on the Mediterranean coast.

Not the worst team that Oviedo could have pulled out of the hat but not a disaster either.
