Confirmed. Real Madrid will play in South Africa in March. The date will be March 3. Real Madrid will earn 6Million € after taxes - (7.2M$) for the match. This is the highest price ever paid in the history of soccer for a single game.

The game is organizated by South Africa goverment to support the 2010 World Cup bid.

This is a great example of what RM represents around the world. But, I'm not very happy with the date of the match that it is between the two Bayern Munich Champion league matches, exacly 7 days before the second game in Bernabeu. But i think that RM has thought that was too much money to say no.

This is a dumb, dumb move. The only way to make up for it would be to put those funds towards a new defender!!!

We will definitely lose against bayern, make 6 million in South Africa, and lose 10-20 million by getting knocked out in the 2nd round (not just TV money but also brand equity)

I think that the Real Madrid supporters that read Diario As web site has the same opinion that this board. In a poll with the question:

HACE BIEN EL MADRID EN IR A JUGAR A SURÁFRICA EN MEDIO DE UNA ELIMINATORIA EUROPEA?

Has Real Madrid made a good decision going to play to South africa, in the middle of a CL eliminatory?

    The result was:

Votes -when i read the poll -: 5096

    Yes: 30%
    No:70%
