Carlo Ancelotti’s final La Liga match in charge of Real Madrid is set to take place this Saturday. Los Blancos welcome Real Sociedad to the Santiago Bernabeu for their final fixture of the 2024–25 season. With second place already secured, Madrid will be hoping to end their campaign on a high note in front of their home fans. Madrid come into the match with 81 points, four behind newly crowned champions Barcelona. They secured a routine 2-0 win over Sevilla in their last league outing and will be determined to give Ancelotti a proper send-off before shifting their focus to the Club World Cup in June/July. The game will also mark Luka Modric’s and Lucas Vazquez's final appearances at the Bernabeu, adding more emotion to an already significant occasion. On the other hand, Real Sociedad have endured a disappointing campaign. Sitting 11th in the table with 46 points, Imanol Alguacil’s side are officially out of the European qualification race for next season. Despite a spirited 3-2 win over Girona last week, it’s been a season to forget for La Real. The previous meeting between these two sides produced a thrilling 4-4 draw. With nothing to lose for either team, fans could be in for another entertaining affair. While Madrid will likely rotate their squad ahead of the Club World Cup, expect a festive and emotional atmosphere at the Bernabeu as the curtain falls on an era. This could also be the last game for Zubimendi in Soicedad's kit, due to rumors about Arsenal transfer. Additionally, Mbappe will be chasing a goal that will get him the golden boot. So he's also the player to watch today.
I like the inclusion of Lucas. People are sour on him because of this season but it's not his fault the team had terrible planing.
Unless Lewandowski scores 4 goals, Mbappe has the pichichi wrapped up. This is a very emotional game, because of the three legends who are gracing the Bernabeu pitch/dugout for the final time. I hope it will be a celebratory atmosphere regardless of the result, since their farewell is more important. Gracias Lukita, Lucas, and Don Carlo!
I might be wrong but I don't expect the ground full anywhere near regular attendance, don't feel like anybody we're saying farewell to wanted to leave either. Kind of a weird vibe to it. Is it a fairwell if you kick people out? I don't know.
As I understand Lucas continues through Club WC. On the other hand this should be Jesus Vallejos last game
The only thing that matters in today’s match is for Mbappé to score another goal to overtake Gyökeres and win the Golden Boot. Ideally, a brace or a hat-trick, so that tomorrow Salah will have no chance of matching Mbappé’s goal tally.
It is absolutely gorgeous from the inside - especially being there in person. The outside, I have to agree, just doesn't have any soul. Bland grey color with smooth lines.
It would be really nice if Xabi could make the right side of our attack function properly. TAA should help too.
