🚨 BREAKING: José Mourinho WILL be Real Madrid’s new manager, barring any major surprise. He will be IN CHARGE of restoring ORDER and CONTROL.If there are BIG changes that need to be made to achieve this, THE CLUB WILL DO THEM. @jfelixdiaz pic.twitter.com/VWaXb9CKkg— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) May 15, 2026 Second sentence is why we are hiring him imo
Agreed but 100% necessary. We absolutely have to clear out some players. I’m neutral as the whole lot of them are pretty awful TBH. Id like Guler and Carreras to stay. The rest of them I won’t be all that fussed.
He’s here to be the “fall guy”, nothing more. Situation is so bad that Flo thinks the only person that can make it worse is Mou (with the silver lining of course being the aim is to hit rock bottom so that there’s no place to go except UP!!!) Maybe he gets lucky that the team is so talented that, if healthy, it can flat track bully the way to a domestic title. Then we hear about the genius of the President and Manager for the next 2 years before it all explodes because the club gave him the benefit of doubt for three years and never stop to consider that the “special one” is just a nickname and not a scientific finding.
There is no better coach on the market than Mourinho. That is if the goal is still to be competitive and win.
Coincidentally that's about as long as it has been since Mourinho has won in a CL elimination game. Time flies, doesn't it? His last league title was 10 years ago.
If you hit your head and woke up after a decade long coma, sure. Otherwise, players can just pull out their phone and see failed/fired/failed/fired. Whenever i mentioned Mourinho as the next coach this place lost their mind saying he's washed, a little bit of media push from the club's own promo machines and suddenly he's the guy. Loser mentality.
Bizarre post. Just say you dislike the coach - which is fair. We are allowed to not like a personality / coach / player and not want them in our team - that's perfectly reasonable. I don't like Mbappe - but I wouldn't go around saying he's washed/not a good player. You, however, are not dealing with facts and letting your overwhelming dislike overcome you. Trophies are a function of the teams you are managing. What trophies can be won if you're not coaching City/Pool/Real/Barca/PSG/Bayern? With the odd exception - but that's just how things are. Vincent Kompany is not more knowledgeable, more capable than Mourinho - but he's about to pad his CV with german trophies. If Carlo coaches Everton - he's not winning anything. At Real, he's"the greatest coach ever" according to some (a view I possibly subscribe to, or thereabouts). Mourinho is a better coach today than he was 15 years ago.
We've got a couple years of Mourinho ahead of us. So your worst nightmare actually is happening - and you'll have to accept it. buckle up mate. And yes, it's football - I'm going to sleep well no matter what. Not losing sleep over pratty 20 year old multimillionaires beefing on a pitch playing a child's game.
Mate you and I are too old for a catty back and forth. We're not meeting in the middle about this - let's just let it be.
Yes I remember that. I thought you were out of your mind because quite frankly given the mess Mourinho left the last time and the mess there currently is now - you would have to be out of your mind to think this is the right guy for the job. This is nuts, but then again we can see that with the sudden call for elections and what not - Flo is really desperate and without good options he's just in distract and deflect mode until he roll out a new World Cup star signing.
Ancelotti is older than Mourinho. He was also lumbering among the Evertons of the continent when he got lucky with Florentino's nostalgia. They are both dinosaurs but in the right situation they can deliver results. The problem with the Mourinho hire is that it screams lack of direction. There is zero long term vision here. Mourinho means we are further from any kind of identity than ever. And that realization really stings.
Ancelotti is 3 years older than Mourinho, that's as many years as Vinicius is older than Jude Bellingham by the way. Also, since Mourinho last won a CL KO round, which was in 2014, Carlo Ancelotti also won multiple titles at Bayern, a job that according to Rummenigge "Mourinho asked for but didn't get because he wasn't the right guy". The issue with Mourinho is that besides not being up to "current trends" in football which i consider pretty irrelevant, his "Special One" personality has basically turned into a caricature, an impression of a man full of energy. Kind of like a Rolling Stones/Motley Crue/Guns N Roses concert.
