Well Del Bosque was worried about Madrid entering into this game. With so many players on international duty during the week and the important Champion's League match vs Dortmund on Wednesday, it was easy for Madrid to overlook Osasuna. Full credit to Osasuna but this is just one game in a long season.

" Real Madrid had Luis Figo sent off on their way to a dispiriting 1-0 defeat away to Osasuna in the Spanish first division on Sunday.

Real, needing to win to replace Real Sociedad at the top of the standings for at least a couple of hours, fell behind to a Christian Manfredini strike on 38 minutes.

The European champions had a good spell at the start of the second half and created a few chances to equalise but Figo's red card on 64 minutes let Osasuna take control once again and the home side held on for an excellent win.

A second defeat of the season for Real left them with 42 points in second place in the table, two points behind Real Sociedad and ahead of Valencia on goal difference. Sociedad can stretch their lead to five points if they win away to Real Betis later on Sunday.

You should be glad the Real Betis was able to retake the lead after losing it to Real Sociedad with only 13 minutes left in the match! Now that Dani is back on the pitch after a 10 month injury the team was able to get the job done against a well balanced Real Sociedad. With his two goals Fernando has now taken over the top spot for leading goal scorer of Betis with 8 goals!

Saludos y Viva Er Eurobeti Manque Lopera!
