And probably not coincidence that team had amazing run with Mastantuono earlier, he just adds someting, more energy, more structure on that side.Good game and goal.

It's genuinely a sad day for some on RMBS

They were. The entire team was good apart from the f*x!ng around the box where we conceded.

Somebody snuck into the dugout to give a pep talk...

We scored this many goals because we won the ball high up multiple times and the first pass was forward not backwards. I hope it wasn't just this game and we start doing this. It's difficult to score when you are faced with 2 banks of 4 whenever you attack. We need to move the ball faster and be braver in possession.

Probably our greatest game offensively this season. We could have scored 8 or 9 goals pretty easily.

Defensively it wasn't the best showing especially in the second half.

I like how Arbeloa has gotten the team back together as a unit which is a sharp contrast from the train wreck of a man manager that Xabi was but I hope this doesn't mean he will be too scared to sub out certain players. In the last 15 mins there was no point having Mbappe or Vini on who made no defensive contribution at all which put a strain on our defence. You have to be brave enough to make that sub especially if we find ourselves with a slender lead.

    He wont be.

Its already pretty clear Vini, Mbappe and Jude wont be subbed out if they dont want to.

We are provisionally 2nd on the UCL table.

I hope that doesn't come back to bite us because teams are going to take advantage of that.

The team will be on an easy run of games. Let's see how things stand when the new manager bounce wears off in a month or two.

Hopefully there would have been enough momentum gathered.

Unfortunately, the defense still look $h!t. Good news is the offense seems to be better and flowing.

Great win and the football was a joy to watch. Hard to resist making comparisons but it does remind me somewhat of Zidane’s first game after Benitez, where the players felt somewhat unshackled to play their natural game.

With that said, probably has a lot more to do with the collective effort of the team today. Mbappe tracking back 100 yards was so refreshing to see. That guy gets madridismo. Vini was unplayable as well. Destroyed Monaco.

The bright spots for me are the free flowing football and collective effort today. If we can also defend more compactly as a unit, the team could put together a good run this season.

    Gracias Florentino

Suddenly all these players are amazing again. I wonder what changed?

I know Monaco were shit but at least the joy is back in the team. Further tests will follow I know but let's at least feel some positivity for once

Big question is how much of this is us being back and how much is it the quality of the opposition?

Glad we got the BIG win, the players deserved to get belted by the Bernabeu and it clearly made an impact.

That said, I'm very cautiously optimistic on our trajectory. I've seen this movie before many times with RM since the late 90s..

    Consistency and adaptability are key.

There are some causes for concern in our midfield and defense but let's celebrate for now..

And for what it's worth, Albacete offered much more than Monaco. This side was extremely poor but even then if they had Segunda level finishers, we could have had to go through some suffering.

Our best game of the season but also the weakest opponent we've faced so far..not the player's fault, most of them did great.

True. Monaco defensively were a shambles but the big thing is that the joy in the team is back now. We can build on this.

We've had it rough recently, let's allow some positivity.

I have an inkling that Monaco played a bigger part here more than we like to admit.

And Albacete beat Real Madrid with half the starters.

    That doesn't mean much.

Let's enjoy the win in the meantime.

Anyone know why Asencio was taken off?

One of those games where all the players who deserved to score bagged themselves one. Jude was a machine, he was all over the place. Vini was serving up assists on a plate (even the Monaco defender got in on it), and Franco obviously. He was great.

    Very fun game!

The management certainly does think so.
