How much did we spend in 2009? That's when we started building our Superteam; we got Kaka, Benzema, Ronaldo, Khedira, Xabi, etc.

    This.

We miss leadership in the dressing room.

I say this all of the time. Letting play go on for another 10-20 seconds is going to cause injury. Call the damn offside.

We spend on big names which is great. But tendency to cut corners in certain areas has been a flaw with Florentino teams in some seasons. Led to him resigning after 2003-06 drought.

3 defenders this summer was the right move, but playmaking in midfield was ignored. That's the engine which was key to 6 CL winning dynasty (Xabi, Modric and then Kroos replacing Xabi).

Not to mention that we also had ballers such as Di Maria and James playing in the midfield. Now we have Valverde.

Perez must have promised Xabi the same before he signed. He also promised Zidane before his second stint and then fvcked him over.

With King Perez, nothing will change.

Lmao he will not take this job. We can't just keep hoping for the old man or Zidane to bail out the bad or lack of planning.

Fire sale this summer. No more ********ing around. You made akabajillion dollars from the NFL games. Use it.

Zidane can't do jack with this team. What they need is a solid #8 and #10.

Sorry, your application for a playmaking central midfielder has been denied. Best we can do is a 7th left winger. Yildiz joins pre-season on July 1st!

The only advantage of bringing back Zidane (which will not happen), will be that he'll bench Vinny.

Not a bad comparison, difference being Lopetegui will never be a Real Madrid caliber coach. Whereas Xabi can be one day, I believe he is a good coach but it's too soon for him to be at RM.

It's all moot though, if the next manager isn't granted the autonomy to make big decisions and bench certain players, nothing will change.

You're not wrong, but what choice did Xabi have? Rightly or wrongly, time and time again the board have shown they are going to blindly back the players. Every. Single. Time.

Inmates run the asylum, I'm sure it didn't take Xabi long to connect the dots.

I swear I don't know..I could say maybe he should have made an example out of the players who were out of line especially after winning El Clasico but truly I don't know.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

He'll probably end up Liverpool soon and we'll spiral into chaos.

    2026 all over again..

All that was missing tonight was Vini making his "Segunda" gesture to the Bernabeu fans after they booed the team :ROFLMAO:

Nah man, you can't be playing a 2x ACL dude every game no matter how good he is and no matter how "fit" he seemed. His last injury with Seleçao should have been our cue.

This, and the fact that our defense consists of a legless Rudiger and a broken Alaba, is precisely why we needed another top tier CB in the summer but hey, bum Konaté was going to be available.

    Reckless planning.

Zidane left literally saying and thinking the team didn't have what it takes to win anymore, because the "old guard" (Modric, Benz, Kroos, etc.) didn't have it in them anymore and the new players (Vini, Fed, Rodrygo) didn't have it in them at all.

Carlo promptly turned it all around and won a CL and La Liga double, TWICE!

Club could have done this in 2024 when Carlo was first being offered the Brazil job. That was the time to back a manager long term.

Zidane got burned out from 2.5 years of managing the team, twice.

He's not the long term solution and stability people think he is. If anything the club will be stuck with players on huge contracts that it can barely give away for free (see James, Bale, and Hazard) because he really doesn't understand financial part of pro sports .

This season is quickly becoming a mirror reflection of last season, even timing wise.

@J-Mezzy We continue to be ineffective through CK and set piece. We also probably have not score from a direct freekick. I don't recall us scoring from CK, SP and DFK for a long time. We also know that our penalty kick successful rate is low due to VJ.
