They're all underperforming in some way, some in more ways than I can count. Mbappe is the one getting attacked the most because of his huge signing-on fee and the fact the club tried to bring him here for so many years.
Fair enough. I misunderstood your take initially. My bad. I put players in the same boat. Some have been horrible, some decent...but overall bad. I have no problem with attacks on Carlo or the Board though. They are ultimately accountable.
On the Twenty Seventh, after your team's flight, *kindly sponsored by Barca* as a good luck wish ... The Scousers will provide your road transport. Three Routemasters in Scouse red. Chauffeur driven up the M6, from a disused undisclosed airport. They will drop the players in a Bed & Breakfast in Toxteth for the night. Hookers are no more than £10 with a condom, £12.50 without. Then Ubers driven by local unemployed lads will take your guys to the ground on the Wed. The chauffeurs will, of course, dump the three Routemasters in the six yard box in a row, ready for the first half. A deck chair will be lobbed on top for ya keeper to sit in & admire the YNWA @ the start. A repeat of last year's calamity against the Mancz, this time without progressing, possibly not dissimilar to that four-zero in 2023. All this common courtesy for the entitled Mighty RM ... With special thanks to Barca, LFC, Uber, Toxteth ex-con youth & Blackpool Beach for .... the Deck Chair. ** Seriously .. this season .. the scousers are not producing pretty football like the mancz, however they have kinda been winning easily somehow, observe their matches .. clinical af. ** Good Luck !!
Yesterday's match was a huge disappointment. Team looked disjointed and unorganized. The best teams in Europe this season so far (at least the ones I've been watching) like Barcelona or Liverpool have a really defined way to play. You can see their new coaches came with tactics and explained it to the players and did drills. RM on the other hand looks like "put some players on the pitch and YOLO". It looks like there's no tactics, barely any positioning, no pressing... Which is cool, players have a lot of freedom and it can work some times, but I wish there was at least some structures, or some tactics to try sometimes. We can't only rely on moments of brilliance from our players. If this trend continues, Carlo will get the sack soon.
There are three types of posters regarding the manager. The reasonable ones. The overacting: it’s always Carlo’s fault and he should be fired ASAP. And those who infantllize the coach.
Also another thing worth mentioning is that neither Liverpool nor Barcelona play pure positional football, their attackers nearly all have freedom to roam around and do their own thing individually (unlike say in Guardiola's Man City where players function like automatons). But no, I am constantly told that we can't have a proper system and structure and efficient pressing over here at Real Madrid.
If the players would be up for it they'd already be doing it. There's a reason I'm pissed about the attitude. I'm angry so many players feel like it's the other guys responsibility to do something. First reaction is always to look around to blame somebody.
Rodrygo at this point of his career has zero ground to be talking about legacy and individual awards. That's the funny thing to me, they won as a team but found that to be the reason for individual recognition.
Thierry Henry: "I saw Bellingham kick a bottle when he came off. He was the one making all the runs, not Mbappé. I would be upset also. Of course I would also have been upset. This is not good enough. I don’t think they are playing well as a team." pic.twitter.com/1C0gpLzn5u— Madrid Universal (@MadridUniversal) November 6, 2024
Thierry Henry: "I know Mbappé is not a number 9. I know this may not be his favorite role, but will and desire speak. You do not win games with your number 10 (Bellingham) making runs instead of the striker. Coming back, bending his run, defending, and he gets substituted. I… pic.twitter.com/BoyHF6UOIG— Madrid Universal (@MadridUniversal) November 6, 2024 I am pretty sure Jude is doing the running in behind because he is so obsessed with scoring
Pretty sure some of our players are doing a lot of running in those DMs and WhatsApp messages to their favorite pundits and writers which is a shame.

First 25 mins of the last two games we had plenty of looks, terrible finishing and/or positioning. Put some of those in the complexion changes in our favor even more with open spaces to exploit. That’s aside our right side in defense is just leaking goals and chances. LV is a hero but he doesn’t have the legs anymore and it’s showing. Henry also had a good bit yesterday showing how Bellingham and Mbappe are occupying the same spaces. Not absolving the former but the latter is throwing team structure out the window.
The laziness in this team is evident. There's zero pressure after losing the ball. Vini stands still while the whole team watches them counter. pic.twitter.com/E8TWACtz4j— 𝙇𝘽𝙕 (@losblancoszone) November 6, 2024 Watching this angle makes it even more frustrating to me. Tchouemeni shit pass to Vini Vini not even bothering to chase back Lazy pressing from Tchouemeni Piss poor attempt from Rudiger to block Mendy thinking cba with this Lunin with another weak save There needs to be wholesale changes vs Osasuna if Carlo wants to stay in his job. Give that 17 year old kid a chance at RB ffs
🤦🏼♂️ Cuanto más lo veo más me cabreo. Vas a presionar al portero y en 3 pases casi te marcan el 1-4. pic.twitter.com/jfaM4dqtxR— Fanáticos Real Madrid (@Fanaticos_RMCF) November 6, 2024
The squad is not set up for success. There are some players that the club has banked on that aren't that good. Injuries compound the poor assembly of the squad. Carlo should finish the season and the board needs to get their heads checked.

I went to the stadium about and hour and 20 minutes before kickoff. The fans were already gathered, enjoying their pints in the pubs along the Paseo de la Castellana that leads up towards the Bernabeu. One of the pubs had a sign that said “no fans of Juventus allowed” The whole street leading up to the stadium was lined with dozens of stands selling merch. If you came unprepared needing anything like a scarf, a shirt or a flag; they’d have you covered. Most popular shirts seem to be Modric, Mbappe, Vini, Bellingham and Valverde. Merch stands along the Castellana Coming up to the stadium there are three smaller/shorter streets where the fans generally meet up before entering the stadium. Those are Calle de San Juan de la Salle, Calle de Marceliano Santa Maria, and Calle Santo Domingo do Silos. There people from all over the world gathering in Real Madrid shirts here. If you are early enough you can even catch the team’s bus arriving to the stadium’s Eastern garage via Paseo de La Habana. I unfortunately missed that part of the experience. Bernabeu surroundings In front of the stadium, in the Avenia de Concha Espina, there were stands with snacks and drinks. Here you could buy the common snacks for the Bernabeu. Pipas (salted sunflower seeds) and many others. These can be safely brought into the stadium. You cannot bring alcohol inside, but you can bring soft drinks and water. But you have to take off the bottle cap and hide it in your pocket walking up to the stadium gate. They don’t allow bottlecaps as they could be thrown onto the pitch and at the players. Once you pass the gate you can just put your bottle cap on again. Inside the stadium the regulars just throw their sunflower seed shells on the ground at their seat. There aren’t even trash bins anywhere. There was like one small one that was obviously not fit for the size of the crowd. There are people coming to clean after and everyone is just used to this behaviour. One of the snacks stands in front of the stadium About 50 minutes before kick off I went inside to find my seat and to watch the players warm up on the pitch. I had a great seat in section 114 of the stadium behind the goal, in the fondo sur, but closer to the corner flag to the left of the goalie. First came Lunin alongside the goalkeeper coaches. He jogged around and greeted the crowd while being applauded by everyone. Then came on the Milan players and were greeted by loud whistles, though those whistles were probably just for Morata. Boy do we hate that guy Then about 30 minutes before the kickoff our players came out. Cheers were heard, fans shouting the name of their favourite player etc. Alongside them came Pintus. He got a nice reception from the fans and he graciously thanked us and continued working with the players. I was so close to them that I could see the expressions on their faces. Not a confident bunch at the moment, I’ll tell you that. Just my impression, for whatever it’s worth. Also, Mbappe was missing the goal with most of his shots during warmup lol. I was surrounded by fans from everywhere. A young French couple, a Colombian fan, a Mexican fan, Spanish fans… Later on, the old geezers started coming in. To my right arrived an older gentleman with grey moustache quickly scanning to see who of the regulars would be there. He realized he’s not surrounded by regulars, so tough luck. However, a bit later 4 other older guys arrived in the row in front. They all greeted the old guy next to me and proceeded to talk about the Valenica tragedy. I could follow the conversation somewhat well with my broken Spanish. One of these 4 had horrible BO and I was praying he doesn’t sit right in front of me. I was lucky cause he moved to the side. Before the kickoff, the Himno de la Decima started playing and we all joined in singing. It was amazing to finally be a part of it. It’s customary that the visiting team gives us the 2nd half to attack at the fondo sur, because that’s where our vocal fans are, but Milan said fk that. And people whistled, understandably. I was quite immersed in conversing with people around me about the current situation in the club so I completely missed the kick off whistle, and realized the match started like 5-10 seconds in. It was soon after I realized that the only part of the fondo sur that actually does sing and cheer during the game is the two sections directly behind the goal. The rest of the stand does not. Like not even a little bit. Kind of lame if you ask me. I even brushed up on my songs hoping to cheer the team on, but oh well. I would look like a crazy person if I tried that in my section. As the match was underway it immediately became obvious what the crowd thinks about this team, individual player and even Carlo. The oldtimers near me were VERY vocal about every misplaced pass, every lost duel, every mistake. And as the game progressed their shouts directed at our players started to sound more and more like proper abuse. They weren’t just negative, they were utterly miserable and bitter. I’m telling you, even realist has nothing on these guys. None of our doom and gloom guys have anything on them. Mendy, Vazquez, Tchouameni, Vini… They all got it. It was like I’ve entered some nursing home for the eternally pessimistic geezers. You didn’t hear any “supporting” from these guys, you just got the feeling of entitlement. Like they came here just to be able to dunk on someone else that week by saying “My club won, yours didn’t. Ha-Ha!” Now there was plenty to criticize, of course. We didn’t have any midfield , nobody was running, Carlo running out of ideas etc… But some comments were just ugly. When Mbappe missed the whole goal when Modric played him clear on, a word Negro was uttered angrily. Then followed by something along the lines of “it doesn’t matter if your black or white, but you have to hit the goal” (damage control?). Again, my Spanish is only good enough to understand the context and portions of each sentence. There were some girls in the section behind the goal that were waving a big flag, and in the first half that flag was just in our line of sight towards the goal. The oldtimers started shouting at these girls, and one of the guys behind us was screaming “PUTA! PUTA BANDERA!” When the girls realized that was meant for them, they lowered the flag and looked proper bummed out. The bandera in question can be seen in the lower right corner here Vini’s penalty happened right in front of us, and I hoped he’s celebrate near us, but he just ran back down his left wing pointing to the badge on his shirt. Big sad Tchouameni got very loud whistles after Milan scored the second goal. It was brutal. I mean he was so bad, but I still kind of felt bad for him. 80,000 people whistling at you every time you get the ball? Oof. When Morata scored the whole place went tits up. So much hate towards that guy. People were cursing our defence, saying “And now Morata scored out of all people!” At half time, doom and gloom continued. Everyone was criticised. I even heard people say that El Italiano needs to go because it’s not working. One guy said “give me Mourinho, or even Capello”. I thought they’re all mad, tbh. I said maybe another remontada happens, however unlikely. People said we always “suffer, suffer, suffer… How are we then the best club in the world? Best club in the world my ass.” Camavinga came on and he is such a great player to see live. A lot of dynamism and energy. But it wasn’t enough. Leao was having a ball with Vazquez. When Vinicius got the unnecessary yellow card, some of the guys started saying “tonto”. Seems like even some of our fans nicknamed him that. One of the younger guys near me was quick to point out that THIS is precisely why some people don’t like Vini. Also, when the vini and Maignan situation happened in the 1st half, the cleats stomp, I kind of missed it because I was focusing on the ball and we didn’t see the reply on the big screen. However everyone kind of sighed at how Vini was rolling on the floor. I was saying maybe he got hit by the cleats when Maignan swung for the ball (as I didn’t see it originally), but people were saying it’s still and over reaction. I agreed but said cleats on an ankle can hurt like a motherfker. Only after the game did I see Maignan actually step on Vini there. I still cannot say if it was intentional or not. Anyhow, the third goal killed all the buzz in the stadium, except that of Milan fans. They were so animated and loud. Some of our fans started leaving already. All in all, a very low point in the season for us, and you could feel it. A bit of excitement by that Rudiger’s goal was quickly extinguished by the offside call. After the final whistle Rudiger was the only player to stay behind and applaud the fans, and he received an applause in return. Nice gesture by him. The stadium was emptied in an instant. There are no queues or holdups. On the way home people weren’t too bummed out. You kind of got the feeling that they know this season is that of struggle and it is what it is. It was a sad first visit to the Bernabeu for me, but I was still very happy to go and would recommend it to anyone.
Wow @Aensensen that was a great write up. Glad you enjoyed your experience. Makes me want to head out to a game soon.
Thanks Hopefully we win when you go. I at least have an excuse to go again as soon as we start playing well again.
