The league race is still tight even after Madrid could only tie with Celta 1-1 in Madrid because Valencia got a tie in San Sebastian. I tell you Celta is a tough foe they move the ball around well and they are well organized in the back. After getting their early goal they sat back and had two lines of defenders making it very difficult for Madrid to penetrate. Despite that Madrid had their chances but couldn't finish or had Cavallero to deal with. So two games left with Madrid trailing Real Sociedad by a point. Madrid plays at Atletico and at home v Athletic Bilbao. Real Sociedad is at Celta and home to Atletico. Kinda scary for madridistas that Atletico Madrid will help determine who wins the championship this season!
Yeah I saw the match and Madrid had a pretty subpar game. Yes, Celta defended well but Madrid could and should have won that match. Poor games from Ronaldo and Zidane. Figo was OK and Raul scored but also msised a wide open chance later in the match. The defense did pretty well except for Hierro's accustomed lapse which allowed Mostovoi to sneak in and score. Too bad Pavon couldn't have started instead (as he did last week with success in Valencia). Two weeks left but Madrid may come to regret dropping two points at home.
Depends on the referee really... i know that we should have taken our chances but I still feel we got screwed a bit. The foul called on Salgado during the goal and the offside on Raul on the pass from Ronaldo, with Zidane moving towards an open goal on the rebound... both were really harsh decisions. I just hope Celta manage to stop La Real from winning in 2 weeks... they just may if they continue to play Cuper-inspired anti-football.
Sociedad did get lucky in the last two weeks. Against Malaga, the ref sent off a player they should not send off . Against Valencia, the ref should not send Ayala off. The outcome of the two games might be different. Somehow, their luck will run out against Celta.
