We need more official supporters clubs in the USA. Last I checked, Miami had the only American club. I want to help get two started in California. There should be an L.A. club and a Bay Area club, no doubt. Surely we can organize enough Madridistas in both areas. We probably need 100 people for each club. Why? For an annual membership fee, we could get great deals on all kinds of stuff. 1) Right now, RM games are on two different satellite services, and only on the premium packages. It would be too expensive/wasteful for one person to subscribe to both Dish Latino for Gol TV's La Liga games and Direct TV for Champions League on ESPN Deportes. 2) Deals on buying all kinds of RM merchandise, either from RM directly via supporters club discounts, or just regular bulk discounts from other vendors. This includes apparel and tickets. 3) Group flights to Madrid for supporters club days will be way cheaper per person if we're sending lots of people! We could be at the Bernabeu with our own flags! 4) You get to watch games. 5) You get to watch games with other fans. 6) By registering as an official supporters club, we help Real Madrid in many ways. We raise awareness and support in the USA. Our membership fees help the club buy players. The club can add our numbers to its list of registered supporters in the USA when it tries to sell sponsorships or make TV deals in America. How: -Each club must have at least 50 holders of the Carnet Madridista. There is no registration limit, and as long as there are 50 cardholders, the rest do not need to have the card. -We've got to organize a group of 50 cardholders in each location.
strong move, Cobblestone. good luck with that. Unfortunately I can't help you in Cali as I'm in Manhattan, but if there's any Madridistas in the New York metro area interested in a New York supporters club (how can there not be a supporters club in New York!?) let's hear it.
Man oh man, this sounds fun. I'd be down for either, or both, a Chicago fan club (where I live) or a Boston one (where I go to school) A few BigSoccer people got together for the Real-Barca game this year, and it was loads of fun, so something official would be perfect.
Yeah, you can do it anywhere. There are different rules for clubs outside of Madrid. To start, you go to RealMadrid.com. For English: http://www.realmadrid.com/web_realmadrid/templates/penyas/listado_penyas.jsp?&id_idiomacambio=2 If u speak Spanish, go to "penas" and take it from there. In the English version, go to "Join Us." This gives u the rules, and an application form. Basically, you need 50 people to buy the carnet madridista, (english- Real Madrid Fan Card). I think this costs 50 bucks when converted from Euros for Americans. They are finally putting up English instructions day-by-day. When they first got Beckham, they had an ad (In Spanish only!) saying how he was card holder 300,000 and if u buy one u could win a signed jersey. Well Hello! they finally put the ads and applications in English! The card itself gives u some neat stuff- a magazine, facsimile-signed Beckham note to you, and free/discounted tickets. So the challenge is to get 50 people for each club who are passionate enough abt the club to buy the card. So far, our Bay Area/ L.A. count is one cardholder.
CobblestoneFootball, i hope that you have luck and you can create the first RM supporter club in the west coast. I 'm sure that there is much more that 50 passionate RM supporter in the California, the problem will be contact with them. Maybe, if you could speak with the Peña/ supporter club of Florida, they could help you to create the peña. I don't know if the club also could help telling you the people that have the supporters card in California. That could help you. Or maybe the club could contact with that people for you. I don't know. I think that if Real Madrid finally play this summer in USA that will help very much to create some supporter clubs there. Florentino usually visit the supporter clubs when the team travel, he made that in Japan. Sinko, i don't know, but i think that it could be a good idea to stick this thread, so that the people that try/ want to be part of a support club could share information. I have received some private messages in the last times about people interested in create a supporter club in Canada.
