So does this mean that we will get the opportunity to pay $50 to watch the second team play in a meaningless game? Yay!

Who cares? Maybe we could see a few of their bench stars... like MICHAEL OWEN!

It's Real Madrid for crying out loud!... I'm going to be paying $25 a game to watch a team that could have their a$$es handed to them by Real Madrid's second team - besides, if Checketts can pull off some loans, maybe it'll be a chance to see a potential RSL player or two! :D We can HOPE can't we?!

this thread is worthless without links.... i think that if real madrid was really going to play here, it would have been on the newstand on mlsnet.com or someone would have posted a link to the story by now. can anyone post a link please?

Well sorry guys but I've searched all over the net and have found NOTHING whatsoever on any plans of a tour. Not on Yahoo, RealMadrid.com, FSW.com, ChampionsWorld.com, or soccernet.com. So....

Looks like the thread starter is actually in Madrid, so maybe we could give him the benefit of the doubt for a few days at least, and see what comes of it. :) Maybe he information that hasn't been made public yet?

I have nothing to confirm but I do know the idea has been discussed in places other than bigsoccer.

If it comes off, it's way too early for an announcement. If it doesn't, it doesn't. Hope no one is waiting for a formal denial.

No recent reports at As or Marca which would suggest this. I'll try to keep my eyes open.

Real Madrid did a Summer Asian Tour in 03 and 04. The next year Real Madrid want do a Summer Tour in USA, and Florentino wants a match in Utah, becouse is a honor for Real Madrid that the name of one team in MLS is REAL.

Excuse me, but my english is very bad...

Ok you bilingual wonder boys, can someone spare me the use of Babelfish and let us in on what your saying?
I think its great if Real Madrid thinks highly of RSL. Definite props.
I can hear it now "BECKHAM!"

Alright the first spanish by Aurelius is roughly: Don't worry about your English, tell us in spanish how you know these things and why we can't verify it anywhere on the net.

Blitzzboys is, again roughly: There are speakers of both Castilian and "madrileno" (which must be a dialect from Madrid, kinda like an accent here). What happened to Jose Maria Garcia (whom I don't know), is he still on the radio there (I think?). Don't bring any Mahou (a type of beer), we already have plenty of bad beer in this country.

The last spanish entry basically says he thinks Madrid will destroy RSL and makes a funny reference to recycled Sierra Mist bottles. My spanish is quite rusty. But that is a brief summary.

I don't think that the real Real is going to let its expensive players anywhere near the Rice Eccles Field Turf.

But, on the other hand, we have lots of sod farms here in Utah & 45,000 X $50 a shot + TV revenue might cover the cost of those trays like Detroit used for the World Cup or Portland used for the 97 qualifier against Costa Rica.
