This could happen. However; I hope it doesn't since he is an intricate part of our attacking style.

I'd rather he'd go to Real Madrid than any of the Italian clubs though...

It's probably mostly press hype since there's no club matches till next week, and the fact that we're matched up with Real in the CL.

But, could you see Beckham, if he plays extremely well, leaving United if we would win the CL?

    I don't.

    it wont.

    it doesnt make any sense.

1)real already has freakloads of awesome players. not that that stopped them bfore, but you have to think that eventually its all going to end.

    2) Beckham has been brought up in the man u system since he was...what? 13?
I cant imagine the board letting him go, for ANY amount of money

    3) He is to much of an important part of our offense. whos gonna fill in? chadwick?

IT would be liike aying soem club is going to buy ryan gi.......

    oh...nevermind...

Where does Real get the money for this? They don't have any extra property sitting around to whipe out their debts. And since they've shelled out insane $$$ for players like ZiZi, Figo, and Ronaldo, could they really cough up the kind of cash that ManU would expect?

In 3 successive summers real madrid have signed luis Figo, Zidane and Ronaldo . , all of wich were more earth shattering/unlikely than Beckham going to Real Madrid. Unfortunatly when real madrid want a players they get them(recently). The tranfer of Beckham would be much easier than that Figo, Zizou and Ronaldo. With Champions league revenue for memeber teams declining, wages spirraling out of control, manchester united -despite Beckham service to the club, would have to be pragmatic and sell him. Beckham is integral to Manchester United, but they need money if they seriously want to reclaim their position in club football that tney have lost over the last 2 and a half seasons. Anyway Beckham would find him self on the bench in madrid.

Actually Real Madrid have gotten rid of that property, selling some of their practice facilities (the land they are on) back to the city of madrid for a hefty price tag, which pretty much erased the debt they had.

From what I have heard, the Spanish Government subsidizes much of what Real Madrid spend. It's also a likely scenario since they've historically cared more about their club teams than their National Team.

And as for Beckham not making the starting XI for Madrid? Please. You don't spend 30-40 mil on a bench player - not even Real Madrid.

I don't think this is true. Figo, like all players under contract in Spain, could be bought for a hefty price. Real were willing to pay that price and there was nothing that Barca could do to stop it. Zidane's wife was tired of life in Turin, and Ronaldo had a falling out with management at Inter. Beckham has been at United since he was quite young and is fiercely loyal to the club. Could the transfer happen? Sure. But the only way that United would let this happen is if Beckham made it clear that he wanted to leave. And I don't see that happening.

(And if it did happen, I'm not sure how you would manage a midfield with Zidane, Figo and Beckham. My guess is that Real would sell Figo, as I think his best years are behind him.)

My thoughts on the Beckham-to-Real speculation:

    1. It's a Real ploy. Remember, we face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarters. Real are playing mind games. There's nothing like sowing dissension amongst your opponent.

    2. Can United let go of both Beckham and Giggs? Sure they can. But the way Keano's been playing, it looks like he'll be playing in the back next season. That would mean you lose three midfielders for next season. Sure you still have Scholes, Veron, Butt, O'Shea(?) . . . . . but my money's on not Beckham and Giggs gone.

    3. Can Real afford Beckham? Sure they can. Three years ago, I didn't give Real a rat's ass of acquiring Figo, but they did. The following year, I didn't give Real a rat's ass of acquiring Zidane, but they did. The year after that, I didn't give Real a rat's ass of acquiring Ronaldo, but they did. Three Footballers of the Year. What's to stop them from acquiring Beckham? I wouldn't bet against them.

We have not advanced through the CL quarters since we last won the damn thing. The squad doesn't seem to have the personnel to compete and win in Europe. Hell, Arsenal have continually improved themselves with their personnel, & may be on their way to repeat as Premiership champions.

I see a lot of changes for next year, more so if we don't win the Champions League. I'd hate to see Beckham go, but if he does, maybe it's for the best of the club.

I think Real could come up with enough money for Becks if he played with any club, but Man U. I doubt Real could come up with enough to force the transfer. And we are forgetting the fact that Beckham will only go if he wants to, and I doubt he wants to.
