GOAL.com: Breitner: Cannavaro Is Madrid's Weak Link GOAL.com: Valencia And Sevilla Eye (Madrid Target) 'Next Robinho' Tiago Luís Discuss these and more.
I was surprised by what breitner said, i think cannavaro has improve loads in comparison to last year. Well our argentine trio are back, so good news so far. Hopefully ramos will belong where he is best!!! Heinze and Gago on the fast track and Saviola finally sets foot on the turf http://realmadrid.com/articulo/rma46718.htm
I read that Dani Alves got his yellow rescinded and now can play against Barca this weekend. Did anyone hear if Real appealed Guti's? It seemed like one that would be rescinded as the video showed that he didn't really touch the guy at all.
Exactly. Didn't you guys go on a huge scoreless streak recently? No matter how good Casillas is (and he is), you don't do that without a strong CB pairing in front of him. What a silly comment.
Up until last game when he appeared to have decided to have come to play in roller skates, Canna was looking very good. Not only that, but he has been doing a good job of organizing a back line that, with all the injuries we've had, has been changing nearly weekly.
Not really a silly comment, I actually agree with him. Sure Cannavaro has improved this season but that's only becuase he was ********ing terrible for large parts of last season to the point where it seemed that Mejia would be a better CB for us. I would much rather perfer a Pepe - Metz/Henize CB pairing but we have had a lot of injuries so far in defence. Hopefully we do get someone like Garay in the summer time to come in.
Its silly the way people & media react after one bad game. Till the Almeria defeat no one had anything to say about Canna & we were supposedly way far ahead in the title run .... now one defeat and Canna is useless in Madrid and farca are back in the race !! wtf !!!!!
Well, I'll defer to you on this because I only casually watch RM games and I didn't watch you at all last season -- but I've thought highly of Canna's performances this season (the most recent one excepted). I would pair up Cannavaro and Metz as your top CB combination; obviously Metzelder would have to earn Pepe's spot after this extended injury period, but I think the former showed a lot of potential for you earlier in the season. I would replace Pepe before Cannavaro, but, again, you probably know better than I on this issue.
I personally have no idea what Breitner is going on about because Cannavaro has really been the only reliable DC this season. Pepe has had his briliant moments but he is constantly injured and so is Metzelder.
Canna brings alot of organizational skills to our defence that a Metz and Pepe combo just fails at. I know its unfair to judge a Metz and Pepe combo over just one appearance but they had so many problems every one was all over the place including Marcelo who said himself he relies on Canna on telling him what to do and where to go in a game. Hes had some great games this season but i'd go for Maca's approach in which come next year we should bring in Garay and hopefully he can share time with Canna.
On the Marca website they have a video of Luis Aragones departing form the airport being welcomed by Spanish supporters chanting Raul, Raul. Luis of course seems none the wiser going about in his usual drab mood. Come on Luis! FFS Luis Garcia and Danie Guiza over Raul now?? he's clutching at straws.
Pepe has actually been our best defender but injured a lot too which sucks. Cannavaro is an Italian defender that should play in Italy not Spain. dooda - While some of that might be true I still don't think it warrents enough to be starting for us. He has some really bad WTF moments at times and is more suited for Italy than Spain imo.
The Pepe and Cannavaro duo has been solid.Cannavaro had a bad game, but so did the rest of the team as well.Cannavaro with Heinze has shown the same quality. If you read Breitner's interviews and newspaper articles in Germany, you know that his point is to always criticize, and say something controversial to get attention, it's always been that way. Yeehaw.
The old man is asking to get sacked, first the crazy reactions, then saying he has no support from the FA, insulting radio host, the list is endless.
As of this moment there is 100 days: 14 hours and 3 minutes until his contract runs out. counting down.
Regarding Cannavaro, I think dooda is right. Cannavaro is prone to making mistakes and he doesn't seem as spectacular as say Pepe. What he does brilliantly on the other hand is organize the back and make everyone else around him look good. Cannavaro may not seem like the star but actually he glues the defense together. Without him our defense has been lost at times. I feel a type like him is needed, and right now I'm not convinced a Pepe/Garay/Metzelder/Ramos combo has got what it takes.
Drenthe with a nice goal (right footed?!) today for Holland U21 against Italy, towards the end of the video. http://profile.imeem.com/wV8USrB/video/TgRkcHhQ
lol now Aragones says the RFEF should "just sack me" he then goes on to question whether they have the guts to do so. Man do they look like clowns for begging him to continue when he wanted to resign after the World Cup. Aragones is smarter than he looks, he knows that they can't fire him know with only 2-3 games before the Euro's.
Take your pick: Vincent Del Bosque, Quiquie Sanchez Flores, Marcelinho, Miguel Angel Portugal and I think Rafa Benitez name may be in the mix by the end of the EPL season.
Bad call actually, IMO, benitez will kill us with his football style and then he will do silly little circle rotations and confuse everyone but he will end up winning something major like CL, lol. What i do like about is the fact that he gives almost everyone a chance to prove themselves like benayon.
