Laudrup, tell me: What do you think happened to Pavon to cause such a change in his career from that point until now?
^ Until 2003 he was benched (very unfairly) in favour of Hierro, which definitely stumped his progression. I was never a big fan of Hierro in the personal sense (although in his prime he was the best CB in Europe), in the last few seasons (1999 onwards) he became a cancer in the locker room, which is something that he passed onto Raul, although he seems to have shaken free of it lately, although he was by every account a huge thorn in our side in the WC... But I digress. In a a nutshell he was (IMO) unfairly denied the chance to establish himself and some chances only come once. As for the Zidanes & Pavones phrase, it's just semantics. Pavon was fairly good in Zidane's first two seasons, so I see no relation there.
