i have been thinking about this the last few days but dint like to post it as the elections were priorety.

    last seasons the captains were:
    1 raul
    2 guti
    3 carlos

raul will surely retain his captaincy.
guti im unsure about, why was he vice captain? i would like to see this poition taken up by zidane. he is captain of france now desailly has reired. hes won everything on personal and club level, why not?
carlos seems ok because he appears to be a real lively character who plays with a smile on his face, but is he really a leader??

    whats your opinions ?

It goes by the seniority at Real Madrid...Guti has been at Real the second longest after Raul...no surprise here since he came through the youth system.

So...there isn't really a debate or a choice to consider, it is done for you.

I think Casillas should be named captain, unless the order-of-seniority line is absolute. Casillas has been with Real for his entire career, is one of the most experienced players in the squad (but is only 23 y.o.), leads the team on the field, stays calm, doesn't get into arguments with players, coaches, refs, or the media, and will be a member of this team for years to come. Raul, Casillas, and maybe RCarlos should be captains; I think Zidane sometimes gets too aggressive and frustrated, Figo dives too much and therefore isn't respected by the refs, Samuel and Beckham are too new to the club, and Ronaldo doesn't really seem like the type to captain a team.

The captain has to be somebody who expresses responsability, who talks in the name of the team, and who puts himself on the line for the rest of his teammates when things go bad. This has to be somebody with signority, and from the house. Somebody respected by the team inside and outside of the field. There is nobody else but Raul. When you look at the last captains of Real, the last great ones (with Raul), were Hierro and Camacho.
Guti is the second only because of the time he has in the team, but he whines too much and more than once puts his own business ahead or Real's. He could not be the captain. Roberto Carlos? 8 years, but constantly whinning (I have an offer from here, there, I want more money....). Helguera would be second best, in a few more years. He is from Real to his death, never talks too much, or complaints, has character and he supports the team with the press....which is what Casillas lucks a bit. He is coming of age, but until recently was kind of shy.
    If I had to choose:
    1. Raul
    2. Helguera
    3. Casillas

Zidane would also be great, but he doesn't have the time.

I think actually Helguera is the best choice for captain, then it is Casillas. Raul is not that suitable for the position.

One thing for sure...I hope Guti leaves or retires before Raul bc I don't want to see Guti as captain on a regular basis.

I think Roberto Carlos would make a good captain should lightning strike Raul, or some such tragedy. He has always demonstrated leadership. Even though people debate whether he can even be called a defender - when he's been injured, we all know what happens to the defense. His commitment to Madrid is obvious. What you call his "whining"...the point of contention was never as much about money as it was about time. He wanted four years, and they only wanted to give him two. If it was really about money, he wouldn't have had to go back and forth with the directivos for as long as he did; he would have been able to sort it out with one call to Abramovich. He's always been a standard-bearer of Madridismo, that can't be denied. This is from a few months back at the height of the Chelsea rumors:

Roberto Carlos has been whining ever since he joined Real. He has also been the player to praise the fans and the team the most, but in his 8 years there hasn't been a single summer without him praising Inter, Moratti talking about him, and the possibility (or the reality), of an offer from Inter or somebody else on the table, with Roberto joyfully playing a few games with the press. Two seasons ago he also demanded to get paid the same as Zidane or Raul, when in reality he does, as it was later shown. His salary is completely tax free, being in practice just the same. He got to the point of demanding a raise so much that his salary got "filtered" to the press so he would finally shut up. Valdano also had constant meetings with him in those times, as he wouldn't stop demanding and it was clear he was creating a problem that could complicate things when the season started, as you never want to have a player who does not want to stay in the team. After these events, Roberto happened to be very good defending himself from the press and the fans and ending the controversy he himself had created. Every time. His last words always show great commitment, but his first have managed to leave a constant shadow of doubt in many fans. His episode this summer with his contract renovation, Chelsea and Inter (again) knocking on the door are just one more on a long list. At least to me it seems that he is a bit greedy and not 100%. As a player I'd keep him forever, of course, but I wouldn't go as far as making him captain.

i agree with iberian but my priority is helguerra. i think one of the reason why raul is off form is becoz of his captaincy. its not that raul is not suitable to be a captain tho, that's why he should be 2nd captain. guti should be 3rd and never 1st, becoz he lost his temper too easy.
