I understand that there may be reason for deleting posts that may be deemed offensive but I just had a post deleted without any notice at all. It was claimed by the moderator that it was too "political" for this little "nice" little board. I have had this happen exactly three times and I am not going to tolerate it any more. I am resigning from this board until and unless the policy of deleting without consultation is changed. Moderating without consulting is simply rude and indicates a quite childish approach to controversy. I know this post will not last long and I know it simply will go away without consultation I post it here in hopes that at least a few people will read it and, maybe, get the policy changed. So, goodby to all here. Those that hated me those that loved me and all the rest. I am quite sure this matters not at all to anyone but me and I am also sure that the Big Soccer minions and demons and gods will condemn this and me but I will not be posting again and that should please at least some people. I wish everyone a good day and say all a final goodby. BTW: If someone at Big Soccer wants to do something quite positive for ne and the board in general they can delete every post I have ever made. If they are going to delete this then I am sure my content has no value so there is no reason for it to even be accessible.
Just to be clear, I repped this post not because I want to applaud to your leaving. On the contrary, I'd want you to stay and I'll miss you if you really leave.
Too bad, hate to hear this news. I understand the board wanting to focus on just soccer, but so much of the world has become permeated with what is going on because of the current crises, it is hard to separate the two. Not sure what you're deleted post was about, but sometimes, sports and politics are extremely hard to separate.
It is disturbing to read this but, alas, not surprising. I had an unpleasant round of notes some weeks ago with someone who appears to be the primary moderator. (Forgive me but I don't recall that person's fake name.) I was responding to what I viewed as an ugly posted attack on Megan Rapinoe that surely had political implications. It wasn't because she was being viewed as a terrible soccer player. The moderator seemingly had no problem with that attack on Rapinoe but DID had a problem with my political challenge to that attack. What's extraordinary to me about such message boards is that (a) they're generally run by moderators with fake names; (b) there never seem to be explicit posted rules to follow; and (c) there is never any appeal process. That moderator threatened to ban me from certain threads if I continued to post things they found problematic. I won't be crushed if this post is deleted by a moderator or if I'm banned from this thread or from remaining a member. As I told the moderator then, I'll somehow survive. Thanks, FanofFutbol, for posting what you have and for your many valuable contributions to this board. Thanks to those who have responded and supported you. I send all of you good wishes in case this is my imminent disappearance.
It's a shame there is such a limited time here to edit one's posts. The moderator to whom I referred in my first post above is dark knight. Listed as "Super Moderator" and "staff member."
We actually have moderators here? Feels like a tumbleweeds have been blowing through here the last 5 years.
They're good for deleting offensive posts. They even do it on occasions when the poster's work should be left intact as a reminder of her character...
Dear FanOfFutbol: I hadn't been paying attention to the board for a while but recently saw that you have returned. If you announced that on some other thread I missed that. Seems appropriate to say "Welcome back!" I respect resignations from here or anywhere and I respect returns.--Bob
