Asencio got a yellow card so he no longer gets to play. It's not the reason why we lost but just why?
Vini and Mbappe go together like oil and water, zero chemistry between those two and we're into March. The league of course is still up for grabs, but we can't seem to gain any traction. Trending towards Carlo pissing it away.
I could never understand players not celebrating. I mean if you are on loan, I get it, but once you moved on, who gives a flying F?
I don't think that's accurate. No card accumulation or injuries are reported. Carlo is punishing Asencio as far as I can surmise. For whatever sick reason, he is clearly saying that Asencio won't play unless the only other available option is Vallejo.
I was making a joke towards Carlo. It seems like if Asencio blinks wrong he gets benched despite being our best defender this year.
Given how frequently Simeone has thoroughly outcoached Ancelotti, I have very low expectations against Atletico Madrid. Yes, this squad has a lot of low IQ and deadbeat players. It also has superstars who have horseblinders and simply cannot work with each other. MAYBE Asencio, Guler and Endrick might have played some serious minutes and salvaged the season like Nacho and Joselu did. But Carlo has absolutely no clue how to get this team to play right now. That defense is a warcrime. Absolutely ATROCIOUS. Every game they concede goals and simply cannot keep their concentration for 90 minutes. A couple of wins against City Group teams that are struggling isn't going to mask the issues. The manager has no solution.
He's gotta do more CF stuff for this to work, there a couple plays when the came into the box and we literally had nobody there to get on the end of it.
I'm so f*cking tired of this club treating La Liga like a competition that's completely beneath them. Losing to this Barcelona club who entered the season in shambles is going to be a complete disgrace. The one thing I hated in the 2010s was how often the club treated the Champions League like it was the only competition that mattered, seasons where they would treat La Liga like an unwelcome distraction. It was my hope that this generation of Madrid and its players would be different, but I guess, as is so often the case, I was completely wrong about that. It's all made worse by the fact that the football itself the most uninspired, rancid dogshit you'll ever see. Watching this game was a waste of two hours of my life that I'll never get back. That's been how this entire season has felt. I've watched over 40 Madrid games this season and I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've felt genuine joy at any point during these 40 games. Waste of my time, waste of my energy.
I just don't like Arda's body language, it wouldn't be fair to criticize a player for missing a shot for example but walking around and actually not being arsed is a problem.
The way this team's going, the league is already gone. Forget it. The effort and interest to win the league isn't there. It's pathetic, it's worthy of every bit of criticism, but that's clearly the attitude of the club. 5/15 points since the beginning of February is proof enough. The moment Betis tied the game up today, at no point did it feel like Madrid was going to score another goal. That was extremely apparent. At the risk of descending into the realm of platitudes, the desire isn't there at all. 23 points out of 42 from 14 road games this season. 55% points rate away from home. And only 1/9 points from the last three away trips. They'll turn up at home, and they'll turn up at Etihad. Elsewhere in Spain? LOL, not worth the effort.
Note how shockingly disorganized we become at defending set pieces when Alaba is on the pitch. And no, this is not something new. This has always been the case with Alaba. But Carlo picked up on this, subbed him out and decided to move Tchouameni to CB!! This idiot nearly (and should have) cost us a PK.
Tchouameni has absolutely no clue how to play CB and he doesn't want to. His defensive intelligence on a good day is average and on a bad day is an abomination.
Was wondering why you would take out Mbappe when you're down and he's your best scorer... French TV explained it. The surgery to remove the molar tooth was apparently not that simple on Tuesday. You're supposed to do nothing for 24 hours and then only light exercise. 5-7 days before full exercise. Barely trained during the week. Apparently had some dizzy spells which is why Carlo took him out.
With Carlo, you never know. He certainly didn't look match fit. Neither did Rudiger and Alaba tbh – yet the fit CB was on the bench. And it felt like Vini's teeth were in Riyadh.
The head scratcher for me was Brahim at CM and Cama on the bench + LV at right back + No Asencio. 3 own goals if you ask me. And if Mbappe can't train, don't play him. That simple. Endrick is plenty good. Bring on Mbappe later if needed. If no Endrick, play Vini - Rodrygo - Brahim front 3 and Cama at CM. Why is life so complicated for no reason.
We move the ball so freaking slow we are always up against 5 defenders whenever we attack. We never get a numerical advantage because teams manage to get back into position due to how slow we move the ball. These midfielders don't have a fraction of Kroos' brain.
