First conservative on this board to say that Reagan should not replace FDR on the dime wins a ... you guessed it. http://story.news.yahoo.com/fc?cid=34&tmpl=fc&in=US&cat=Ronald_Reagan
Sorry, but most objective observers would say that FDR was a greater President than Ronald Reagan. FDR = The New Deal, leading our country out of the Great Depression, followed by leading our country through the greatest war the world has ever seen? Reagan = Booming economy after 70's malaise, Cold War victory, Iran/Contra scandal (taints him, it does...) Reagan might have been a decent President, but even by conservative standards, he's no FDR.
Not that these coins matter much, but you can dump JFK from the 50 cent piece if you like. (Not for Ronald *#*#*#*#ing Reagan, mind you.) Oh, and Andrew Jackson! Son of a bitch has to get off the $20. I think Reagan would be preferable to Jackson. Didn't see why Ike was booted from the dollar coin, either, nothing against SBA or Sacajawea. We can put a man on the moon, but we can't get the dollar coin working in this country? What's with us?
FDR is too linked with the dime to be removed what with his connection to polio and the march of dimes. It is an absurd idea and not right as far as I am concerned.
I don't think our money needs any more changes right now. I think we are all still coping with the concept of colored notes.
I've got a better idea: why don't we put Reagan's face on government debt? You know, the $100 million treasury bond could become known as the "Reagan". It will remind people of one of Reagan's most enduring legacies.
What's with these conservatives wanting to rename everything after Reagan? Pretty soon we are going to be the United States of Reaganica. The line must be drawn here, and no further!
Well, FDR was a smart president. He was smart enough to betray Lucky Luciano, Dutch Schultz and all the other gangsters after he made them all kinds of promises in exchange for their delivering New York's delegates to help him win the democratic nomination. But I am not sure about having a Ronald Reagan dime. If we start playing this game, next thing you know we will have Bill Clinton grinning at us from the hundred dollar bill.
For your information, Pearl Harbor and what followed was responsible for "leading our country out of the Great Depression." Reagan got the U.S. out of the "70's malaise" and won the Cold War without firing a shot.
For your information, Lech Walesa and what followed were responsible for winning "the Cold War without firing a shot."
For your information, we outspent those pricks into bankrupcy. Gorby saw the handwriting on the wall.
Re: Re: Reagan on the dime Thanks also for looking the other way when I gassed the Kurds. Love ya, Saddam
Any f*-CK wit that thinks the reason we won the cold war was through military spending, believes that Soviet-Style Communism works... It is showing an extreme lack of faith that the Capitalistic system cannot be rivaled... Does anyone here truly believe that Communism wouldn't have collapsed on top of itself given a little more time??? By the way, Ronald Reagan wasn't responsible for the 40 year policy instigated by John F. Kennedy that brought the Cold War to an end... Reagan is the f*-Ckin' Devil, he didn't do a thing for this country, other than let us party on borrowed money for about 6 years, why don't you ask his VP who himself did not believe in his economic policies... Iran-Contra, selling arms to the enemy, didn't Ann Coulter write a book about this, I think she called it "Treason"? oh wait, that was about some other President who got a BJ... I will never refer to National Airport as anything other than that...
Always cracks me up! Reagan was such a nobody, did nothing president that the liberals get all fired up when his name is mentioned. Why is that? Who will be the first liberal to feed me some line of crap?
This liberal wants to see Clinton in his rightful home - on the dollar bills that I give to strippers - maybe the $20 for the lapdances.. His smile would be all the better when tucked into a g-string or garter
Using your circular logic then, it was actually Japan who was responsible for us rebuilding their country in the 1950's!!! How brilliant, I now understand why they attacked us at Pearl Harbor in the first place. It was none other than a devious plan to draw us into a World War, drop two A-bombs on them, kill hundreds of thousands of their citizens, all to only rebuild them in the 1950's into the industrial giant they are today. Brilliant!!!
Um, the only reason we got fired up is because people are talking about putting him on the dime. It's not like this forum is filled with "ooooh, Reagan sucks" every day.
Okay, I went a little overboard. But the United States was still suffering from the Depression when it became involved in the Second World War.
