I don't mean to be a jerk, I was at the match and DC outplayed us, and we were lucky to take away a point, but calling that goal the product of great team passing is taking it a little far - Gros's touch was a shank, he was going for goal and the ball landed at Cerritos's feet. Of course it's my bias talking, but the Ruiz goal was pure class :-D And even that was the product of a poor touch on Ngwenya's part.

Come on, this is shameless stuff. A heavy and obsessive internet presence means any DC goal nominated is gonna win. If you can take pride in that, particularly if you think it says much about the team itself, then you're taking self-delusion to new depths. I mean, they were both good goals, but is there ever gonna be any critical evaluation?

Not when it comes to something as important as the Sierra Mist goal of the week. I mean come on, this is the best soda in the world, 7up just laid the ground work for this nectar of the Gods. I have forsaken all other liquids until the soccer season is over, I shall drink nothing but Sierra Mist, it is clear bubbly goodness. Sierra named after the mighty mountains, from the native american word "sierrananoonee" which means "he of the mighty foot" and Mist that crappy weather that is too wishy-washy to be real rain and too gutless to be sunny. We must win. It is more important than the Cup, I would gladly trade Adu to the Circus as "The Goal-boy Wonder" if we were to win goal of the week, I have already sold my first born to ensure a United victory in the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week. So no I will not be critical, for this is the most important vote in the world. Besides you said they were both good goals, this is the DC forum, you are suprised by a bias?

There is no hope for that one, wow, good stuffing by the LA folks. Why do the have two different "competitions" and which one actually matters (do the players get something)? I'd guess the MLSnet one carries more weight.
While there's life there's hope. Go back and look at the numbers. They're changing, slowly but surely. 'Cut and paste' is a wonderful concept.
Where were you 3 or 4 years ago when they gave us 10 cases of this crap and we couldn't give it away at the tailgates? You put quite a bit of effort into missing the point. Is the award trivial? Pretty much, though people who vote a dozen times are demonstrating they don't think it's any more trivial than time they might spend doing something less trivial with their lives. Does the name "Sierra Mist" make the award less trivial? What an exceptionally inane thing to waste a paragraph on. My point is that using the goal of the week award as a confirmation that the team is playing well, that the glory days have come back-- and I've seen that opinion put forth on this forum-- is transparently one of the stupidest "thoughts" that have ever been expressed. I mean, it's circular, to cite as support for why DC is worth supporting (good soccer as exemplified by "the best goal in the league) the fact that DC has active supporters who will vote for any DC goal as goal of the week. And my secondary but way more important point is that dishonest voting demeans any award. You can claim that the value of the reward of dishonesty makes it less wrong to be dishonest, but you know, it says a lot about someone as a person-- all bad-- to regard honesty as something other than an end in itself. And that's why I'm spending time bothering with this: not only do you devalue the award itself (if you don't think the "Sierra Mist Goal of the Week" has any value, then don't vote-- but of course you're being dishonest about THAT, too), you demean yourself with your dishonesty.
Truth be told I can't stand the stuff. I would gladly join you in an oath to drink nothing but Guinness if they were to become our sponsor. That would be----Brillant.
