Whenever I watch footy on television, crowd noise is pretty universal: chants, songs of celebrations after goals, derisive jeers at fouls, catcalls, and roars of approval at goals. And one cool thing is when the English fans applaud a subtly good play like a defensive takeaway.

    EXCEPT the following.

In matches in Spain, the usual eruption isn't a big "YEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHH" but more like a "UAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" like the "gua" in Guadalajara.

And in matches in Central America, a near miss at goal means a loud "WHOOOOOOOO!" like when a free throw is made at a college basketball game.

What are the cultural (or perhaps, linguistic) explanations for these crowd noises?

This toughly overstep Physcology 101*2. Physic talk of body language during game. Each different noise by crowd (more money/more problem=large group). If one is to believe, a crowd can drive outrage revamp motion of match. There are more. You can fill in amount. Player succumb. Level reach e.g. I listen lastly to UEFA Cup (Celtic versus Villareal). I heard. Couple player shank ball over goal by arch and shot was not drove toward net. I start to say "Person must drop ornament from tree." It is hard to watch match. I see player get hit. I need replay before assesment of foul. I tend to retort by statement "That did not look like foul." Acknowledgement revert. I feel dependent of television. Is this sloth? Player's stance seem weak at times. Does weakness elude cause of injury? I miss clubs, catapults and arrows. I hope. Helpful this is. I am slow for sleep.:(

The one thing I noticed in the past is how German fans say Ja and English fans yes, when a goal is scored. The cumulative effect is striking. A German crowd will produce an `ahhh` kind of roar, which sounds like the reaction of an English crowd to a miss by the opposition.

I don't know about you guys, but when I score a goal I start swearing like crazy. I'm not mad though, so it is kind of weird.

But I really go nuts when my team scores. Each time Boca scored last year in the Intercontinental Cup I went CRAZY.
