Re-Name for MLS CUP

    Since the League is going this period of renaming and rebranding, I was thinking that maybe the MLS CUP needs/needed a snazzy name. So many of the posters on this forum are so patriotic for all things American, and are anti-Europe (must be republicans) Why not give our most important match an important and "American" title. We already have SUPER BOWL and WORLD SERIES. What would you rename the MLS CUP?

    Since this is an American league, we should call it the "SOCCER WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!"

    I think they'd be fine if they just got rid of the year reference and went with MLS Cup IX.

    Think of the sponsorship possibilities for #30.

    I've always been fond of calling it The DC United Invitational Cup.

    Didn't Sigi Schmidt actually say something in 1999 along the lines of wanting to thank DC United for inviting the Galaxy to DC's annual tournament?

    That is the dumbest thing I have seen on BigSoccer all week.

    And if you think its embarassing, you should see them trying to blow that big inflatable trophy up on tge field. MLS Cup 1999. I think that's where Pfizer came up with the idea for Viagra.

    If it doesn't hold liquid, its not a cup.

    I vote for "The Northside Rovers Trophy." That has a nice ring to it.

    Sell the naming rights for it. It works for NASCAR, College Football, EPL etc. Why not cash in and put the money towards a Metrostars Stadium.
