Or 6 or 7 and of course if you score more than the other team you will win so there is always an argument of score more goals/give up less goals.
It seems easy to blame the defense, but I think it was at least as attributable to mentality and tactics. In so many of these games we stopped playing "our style" and shifted into bunker and boot. We dealt poorly with the increased pressure our opponents put on us when we were leading after the 60th minute.
It's easy to blame the defense because they set an all-time league record for futility in closing out games and looked incredibly sloppy in how they gave up the goals. Very much some of that is from coaching and changing the "style" of play where we are sitting back more. But some of it is pure fundamentals. You don't have 3 players rushing toward the person with the ball, leaving everyone else open. You should be able to mark someone on a corner/free kick. Btw, none of these things is on topic because Berhalter would indeed save the day.
Also, like in any line of work, when you hate your boss you don’t perform to your potential. I bet the players were miserable hearing the same tired shit game after game. It’s subconscious, but those few percentage points make the difference at the top level (MLS ain’t top level but you know what I mean).
Oh please. Maybe they should all get participation trophies and "attaboy" medals. They are professionals and need to act like it.
GB will take this young team to the knockout round and will not be fired. USMNT could use a better coach but idk who that would be and unless we fail and go home early which is possible but unlikely than all of this is meaningless banter. Hold your horses
