He's making starting 11 money. The wages that Milan has to sponge will cripple this enterprise in the long run, not transfer fees.
From what I gather Becks opt out with LA Galaxy is @ end of 2009 MLS Season. To Keep Becks now (after 3/9/09) Milan will have to pay a transfer fee to MLS ...and Becks will have to take a Salary Cut.
Milan want Beck for good http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jan26q.html Honestly, I see him staying. How can he compare the football of MLS to Serie A? He also must love being around other big name players: Maldini, Kaka, Ronaldinho, etc.
or not even just the fact that Milan has chemistry, look at LA G. and its too disorganized team. do you watch mls?
Yea, but Milan will want him on a free transfer..........Because if Milan wants hom now it cost $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Greetings, all! I am a relatively new AC Milan fan (as of last season). Just briefly: I'm a "soccer mom" who has become a diehard fan because of a) how much FUN it is to be at a game and support your local team (MLS team FC Dallas) and how FUN it is to watch the top level teams, like AC Milan. So I watch MLS -- because it is OUR league and it is growing -- but it is nowhere near Serie A level. I LOVE my local team, but I also LOVE watching AC Milan and Italian football. But, anyway, from my perspective, I think Beckham should work it out to stay with AC Milan. He IS a hard-working, quality player. But he needs to be part of a quality team in order to use his skills and talent. LA Galaxy -- or any MLS -- cannot (yet) provide him the level of team play that he needs. Over here, LA Galaxy have been more like a circus attraction than a soccer/football team. When he came to Dallas last season, we had sellouts, but they were not true soccer fans and were mostly people who would not come back to watch MY team play. I didn't like having MY stadium filled with more LA fans and Beckham groupies and FC Dallas fans. I truly believe that Beckham will want to honor his commitment to the LA Galaxy and American soccer, because he is a sincere guy. But for the GOOD of his career, he also probably realizes that he needs AC Milan level of play and not MLS circus shows. He's still got a couple of good years left, I think. As a true soccer fan, I WANT him to be with a club that suits him. American soccer will get by without him.
Thanks! I watched the Inter-Sampdoria game -- what a rough, ugly game! AC Milan played a similar opponent (16th in the table), yet maintained good possession football without beating up the other players. Anyway, back on topic -- I heard that it is Adidas that is kind of controlling Beckham's loan (or is paying for it, or something). I wonder if they will be able to influence MLS and LA Galaxy into letting him go and/or working out a deal? I would imagine that jersey sales are not as high over here, anymore. I would also think that Beckham is getting more recognition/ media coverage now, with AC Milan, than he does with MLS.
I had this Beckham discussion this morning with a friend who's family loves Becks; 1. the question is will AC Milan pay a transfer wage which will be determined by the MLS and not the LA Galaxy (the MLS owns all player contracts) 2. Will Becks take a pay-cut and 3. Will Becks want to leave the carefree life he has in the MLS? In the MLS not much is expected of him, he doesn't have to track back and play defense and he can get away with playing lazy.
I don't think Beckham wants it easy. I think keeping fit and being available for the National team is more important to him. When I watched him play with LA last season (on TV), there were times when he was obviously frustrated -- by the poor officiating, maybe, but also by the level of play. I still think he's a football player at heart, beneath all of the hype and commercialism. That's just my impression from watching him play, because before 2007, when I "discovered" soccer, I didn't even know who he was. What I learned is that he IS a darned good player. But I wonder what Victoria wants?
Thanks! I just might, now that I got up the courage to actually post. I've been reading the forum for a while, now.
Becks is a very real player, in his days at Madrid I always complemented him due to his sacrifice and efforts in the game... This would be the right choice...
well he did help madrid to the title in his last year there and he played towards the end of season when capello brought him back into the squad after initially dropping him (along with cassano and ronaldo if i remember correctly). i also remember that he was instrumental in madrids push for the title that year so i can only hope he does the same for us because he works so hard during the games he plays in. he is quickly becoming one of my favorite players just due to the work he puts in on the field...gotta admitt i cant help but respect the guy...
yeh i respect him, btw that was barca title! madrid 73 points barca 73points by the end of the season! and i know barca played better then those wanks!
im in doubt about this beckham staying thing. he's doing good alright but ANOTHER midfielder added will only hurt our chances to get a GREAT and YOUNG gourcuff back.
Where would Beckham play when Gattuso returns? I read an article where Gattuso (my favorite ACM player, btw!) said that Beckham is playing in his spot. I can see your dilemma.
