With all the Red Bulls talent, there better be major squad rotation during 3 week games if everyone is healthy. Also: actually using subs. Obviously Backe has frequently had a skeleton bench, but if the Red Bulls get healthy they'll have several guys worthy of starting on the bench.

I'm done with Marquez and I'm sure you are as well. How many times are we trying to find excuses for him and fit him in the starting lineup when it's clear he has no business in being the starting 11.. We are a much better team without him and it's time to give him the finger.

I would put Dax at DM. I was showing what I see Backe doing, but I could be wrong.

sure, i and everybody else would like to see RM gone. but until he is gone he is going to start when healthy ... you don't pay 5.5M for a bench player.

If I could transfer Marquez, I would. But if healthy, he's going to play. I believe he does less damage on the back line than in the midfield. Also, taking Holgersson out of the lineup instead of Dax is a no brainer.

    Hopefully you're wrong.

Brian Lewis of the Post is reporting Cahill is expected to sign a contract for three years, $4.65mil a year.

Good signing, the guy busts his ass. Hopefully he has a couple years left.

I assume that counts this current half season as year 1. Anyway that's about what I expected. You don't pay a transfer fee for a guy and sign him to less than 3 years.

Many things can be said about the Red Bulls but man, no one can say they aren't willing to spend

Love this deal. If it moves Ballouchy and/or Marquez out the door, even better.

Nice signing for NY. Always liked him with Everton. Good in the air and a nose for the goal. Bad year last year though...

Still doesn't address NYs biggest problem...Defense...

The back four is really good when everyone (excluding Marquez) is healthy. I'd put faith in a line of Pearce-Holgersson-Conde-Barklage.

Sorry, I forgot about Pearce. Conde is hit and miss to me and I haven't been impressed with Holgersson. However, I have only seen a few games and understand that health issues may be the biggest problem...

The MLS needed to come back strong after San Antonio signed Jeff Cunningham.

I personally think the team has the pieces in place to be a good defensive team but the problem has been too many injuries and as a result we haven't been able to play with a consistent back 4. I think that when healthy a back four of Pearce-Conde-Holgersson-Barklage with Dax McCarty playing d-mid in front of them is a very solid group.

As for Cahill, I love this signing. He may not be the player he was a few years ago but I think he has plenty left in the tank and I think that he fits in nicely at attacking mid. I hope that a move to MLS gives him a bit of a rejuvenation.

Now if only Marquez can be let go somehow.

If we got out of Marquez what we had reason to expect out of a Mexican national team CD, this team would be fantastic.

Or popularity, unless there's lots of winning I guess.

This is another questionable signing , he scored a high 3 goals for Everton last season. Hope this doesn't turn into another Rafa expensive saga.
Anything is better then Ballouchy and Marquez at this stage.

To me, it's more like the Galaxy signing Keane, who at the time was never playing for Tottenham and needed to make a move. Cahill played really well last year, but the ball just wouldn't go in the net.

It sounds like the new DP signing Marco Di Vaio, for Impact "but the ball just wouldn't go in the net".

Yeah, but Cahill's 4 years younger and Cahill is a more physical and more athletic player than Di Vaio

    Tim Cahill = Everton Legend?

I guess Evertonians would know better but I never thought of him as a club legend.

He's no Dixie Dean or Graeme Sharp.
