Let's go Revs!!!! Any word on a lineup? And for those who are saying that the Shield is a better judge of performance than a cup (which I agree with), what is your feeling of the playoffs in other sports (MLB,NFL,NBA,NHL) ? Are they still the best gauges of performance because they involve series' (minus the NFL)?
why is there a Red Bulls parachuter at Gillette's? Good luck, not like you guys will need it at the rate we've been playing at. looks like you guys have a decent crowd there today
Ask and you shall receive! 4-0 to the good. I missed virtually the whole game due to graduation related activities, so I'll have to read up before I comment. But judging from the last 10 minutes it looks like a good crowd witnessed a solid overall effort by the boys today! Game of milestones..Twellman's 100th MLS goal, Reis's 50th career shutout and Heaps' 300th appearance for the Revs. The best part is the Revs helped to extend the red balls' road scoreless streak and their road winless streak to 19 games. And I (we) thought the Revs had offensive problems! Let's continue this roll boys, time to channel Doc's good vibrations! Go Revs!
Flipping channels just now looking for Vs (WEC tonight). Comcast Sportsnet, they've got WPS (FCGP? WTF?) and it's in HD. Damn, I wish we had games in HD.
I think you have to win a lot more games to be NHL or NBA champion and beat a team best of 7 which ups the value dramatically. MLB restricts playoffs to a pretty small group and has long series. NFL is closer to MLS (hmmm, wonder why).
I'd agree with both of your statements. Those 7 game series are a war of attrition and endurance. Unless it's a really gripping series, I just zone out the middle games until the deciding game. Best of 5 is enough for me. I kind of wish the NFL had a home-and-home total points format like soccer. How cool would that be if we're talking in terms of touchdowns and field goals?! It would make every drive and possession that much more exciting in game 2 - and the NFL playoffs are already awesome as it is.
There are very few complete paragraphs that I disagree with in every respect. You have just written one. Congratulations.
Well thank you for that. Since your opinion is known and respected worldwide, as soon as I complete my sentence I'm going to add the achievement to my resume as its sure to impress. Well, it is kind of silly. NFL is a 16 game season. Playing better during that short time should yield a playoff advantage.
Right - it should, I agree. The equivalent would be hosting Game 2 in the home-and-home playoffs. The best team doesn't always win in a 1-game playoff. The homefield advantage would be hosting the 2nd game. This way a team like the Patriots can't rely on the snow and Indy can't rely on the dome because the teams face each other in both conditions. If the Pats have the higher seed, they get game 2 in Foxboro. Just imagine - the national stations like CBS, Fox etc get Game One while the NFL Network gets Game 2. Ok I'm not serious about this; just hypothesizing something different than what we're used to.
it's not that lonely monty, we have cigars, tons of chicks, beer, setanta (lol), and we break each others noses once a day at minimum. plus we have the satisfaction of knowing our trophy/shield is the proper championship. i like our island, and i think more people will start coming over to check it out. soon it will be a nonexclusive resort that everyone will flock too. until then, we will just have to revel in the awesomeness that is this great island.
