The Revs must have won their last game... Doc didn't start up a pre-game thread just minutes after the last game ended. Good win on Saturday (finally) in front of just over 15k. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll have as good a crowd this Sunday evening, but we can hope. RBNY comes in desperately needing a win of their own. Last place in the East so far (2-7-3, 9 points in 12 games), and they'll have played a game Thursday night at DC as well. They'll come to Gillette having played three more games than the Revs already (damn, almost half way through the season for them). They're 0-4-1 on the road, not having scored a goal yet (wow). The Revs need to start making their home field a place others are afraid to play, fearing a loss (and loud obnoxious home fans). We're now 2-1-1 at home this year, but goals for and against are both at 5. At least a dozen of us will be flying back from Chicago that morning (US/Honduras qualifier) ... and I'm hoping to drink enough to keep my voice going for that night! Let's make it two in a row boys.
I think getting Twellman back, improved play by some of our kids when allowed out of the dog house and a win against the Evil Empire was the spark that may just kick start the team and show us what the real 09 Rev roster can potentially do. No, I was not satisfied with our play in the second half but I saw signs that the elements are there and I think this team is just about ready to show up and play like I think they have the potential to do. I think Sundays game will tell us a lot about where this team is going (or not going ) I see Twellman starting up top and Mansally getting a start on the left wing. Joseph and Larentowicz are back together and Tierney and Phalen are sitting. I think Nyassi gets another start. I think we will stay with the 4-4-2 but would not be shocked if we switched to a 3-5-2. Twellman, Ralston Mansally, Joseph, Larentowicz, Nyassi Heaps, Barnes, Osei, Alston Reis
MLS Teams are 3-6-3 in weekend matches, following a midweek match. Two of those wins were in games involving teams that both played midweek. Only Chivas' 2-0 win over a struggling Dallas squad on 4/25 was against a team fully rested squad. I think at least 2 of the ties (although I could be wrong) were between sides which both played midweek as well. I think this says a lot about squad depth in MLS. Advantage Revs this week? I think so, especially against a very thin NY Red Tards squad.
I agree with this lineup. Next to going with a 3-5-2 and adding dube and dropping Ralston, I think this is probably the strongest line-up to date. Revs conceed the first away goal to NY but the Revs score two. Twellman and Larentowicz with goals
Yeah I like that lineup, too. The 3-5-2 doesn't really make much sense at this point. The backline has played fairly well, and taking off one of the defenders might be foolish. With this back-line, Shalrie and/or JL are allowed to push up the field a bit further, and I will take them involved in the attack much more favorably than I will Dube/Assengue at this point. I would also like to see them let Alston roam a bit further up the field, because he looks confident on attack.
it's RB at home and they blow. anything less than 3 would be a disappointment. any idea if they any of their loser fans coming up? (Besides Raging Syphilis nation who will come because they are on RB payroll) actually, I guess the first question is do they have any fans to begin with?
I am too. I thought they'd do well against DCU and it only took 45 minute to be right . Last week was a test of their character and this week will be a test of their professionalism. Here's to hoping that they keep the fire burning.
I missed most of the match last week, but I am glad that SN followed through getting Nyassi, Mansally back on the field. These players can be dangerous with the right support I still think. TT did have as big of an impact as many of you have expected (and more than I thought would happen) but he definitely injected a complete change in the play of the team. The way he shows for the ball and his innate intelligence on the field simply makes everyone a better player. I did not appreciate this part of his influence, and kudos to his ability this way. It may not work at National Team level, but he is a leader out there for us.
RED BULL AIR FORCE TO DELIVER GAME BALL ON SUNDAY Two members of the Red Bull Air Force will deliver the game ball to Gillette Stadium before kickoff of the Revolution’s match against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday, June 7 … Luke Aikins and Clint Clawson – who have each logged more than 10,000 skydives – will parachute directly onto the field at Gillette Stadium to deliver the ball to the match officials … the Red Bull Air Force is an “invite-only fraternity” of canopy pilots, consisting of 12 of the most talented and experienced skydivers, BASE jumpers and paragliders on the planet. http://www.revolutionsoccer.net/news/index.cfm?ac=latestnewsdetail&pid=37416&pcid=115 Awesome.
Feelin' good about this, our rivals coming into town and we can really get back into the mix in the East with a win here. No more ties!
That's bullcrap, why do we need to have Red Balls people do the jump in?. I may not have made quite that many jumps as these two dudes but I'm more than qualified and would have done it for Rev Central if they wanted that kind of a show. Hell, they could have heralded it as: "Even old fart Rev fans still have the balls to still be able to deliver". (of course being legally blind I'd more than likely land at Starbucks instead of midfield)
A well placed little birdie has informed me that Red Bull (The Company) is sponsoring 4 busses full of local service industry people leaving from downtown boston for the game... an estimated 200 people, now the question is will they be recruited to be Red Bull supporters for the game? Sounds like red bull is trying to pull something on us for this game...
a giant fuck you to the revs FO for even considering this never mind allowing it to happen. seriously, who the fuck lets their opponent have a pregame show in their own house? I'm completely disgusted. this is our house not Redbull's.
Someone should tell them to park their Red Bull cars next to the Riders tailgate. Now there will be some fun.
When does the injury report get released? Will Jeff be able to play? Didn't he leave the game with a possible concussion?
I hope for parachute failure... Seriously, we should see if the End Zone Militia will shoot at them as they come in....That would be effing hilarious! I'm not as pissed as PBI but I disagree with the FO on this one as well... These RBNY supporters should be in the upper deck just like we are at the Swamp... Revs FO just doesn't get it...
yup I at least hope Redbull is paying them the revs a few hunny thou for the publicity and advertising. they probably aren't though and if they are, I bet it's going to gillette and the krafts, not the revs.
