It's not like he has a choice. He's eligible for one national team right now. And it ain't the US. Him "choosing" to play for Mexico over the US is like me "choosing" to sleep with my wife tonight instead of Jessica Alba.
Think so to....I mean if your trying to get a contract with Man Citeh....photo opps with a ManU player seems a little bit like tempting fate.
it does not say that. it says he does not want to play for a mexican team that he wants to go to europe. he has a 4 year deal with pachuca
SUDano gives a good reason why this thread should exist on Page 5. Until he's cap tied to Mexico, there's still a slim chance of him playing for us. So many don't have a problem following his progress until then. It's no different than Diego Fagundez and Andy Najar having threads in the YNT forum, though Najar's basically ceased to exist once he was locked into Honduras.
Yes I believe senior NT friendlies do lock in players that at the time of the friendly, are eligible for just one country. So, Najar doesn't have to play in a WCQ, Gold Cup, etc. to be locked in to Honduras.
This used to be true, but the rules now now require a player to participate in an "official competition" to be locked in.
YA doesn't care about NT affiliation. If he becomes a US citizen, he will be a YA (if he plays abroad). Until then, no.
It's really too bad that he faces an uphill challenge in getting his U.S, citizenship. He's a very engaging kid who you would have never guessed was anything but American unless you knew his status. He really loves the U.S.
The one positive it sounds like for us is that it seems he's in no hurry to play for Mexico. Doesn't mean he won't end up with them, but if he declines to play for them this U-20 cycle, our chances continue to increase. Seems like it's all in his parents hands. There's really not much incentive for him to get citizenship unless he really wants to play for the US, so that seems like a positive sign as well. For any citizenship experts. If his parents gets citizenship after he turns 18, how does that affect his status? Is he able to acquire a passport at least? I think if they got it before he turned 18 (which won't happen), it's pretty easy for him to obtain citizenship.
Mexico is also a pretty loyal country and they don't like guys who think of them as a second choice. Perhaps his pro US comments will anger them into to not wanting him. Maybe thats wishful thinking on my part.
Pretty much all the British Home Nations. Technically they're all part of the UK but they hate being referred to as British and Scotland is currently debating Independence.
